We were lucky to catch up with Chichi Evans recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chichi, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I ever made in my life has to be buying my Canon 90D with 18-135mm lens kit. When I did this, the camera gave me the power to express my creative vision, along with so many opportunities working with clients to get their vision captured. This is undeniably the best decision any creative with a vision should make without any doubts. The camera kit has paid for itself over time, working with clients, which also provides more of a budget to work with for proper equipment and access to more locations.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I first got into video editing by running a Roblox/Minecraft gaming channel as a kid, where I taught myself using free mobile video editing apps. Later on in secondary school, I chose to do photography for my GCSEs, which taught me how to fully operate a camera and edit photos using Adobe Lightroom alongside Adobe Photoshop. When I started college, I did 1 year of photography, then did another year of TV & Film, which helped me explore more of what goes on behind the scenes of making and producing a featured film and various roles were important to have for production to fully function.
The niche of photography I specialise in is street photography & portraits. When it comes to producing short films, my preferred genres to work with are horror, documentary and music videos.
What sets me apart from others is that my creative vision is true to myself and my core beliefs, and I don’t see any injustices. I am always working on new projects and looking for other creatives to collaborate with.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In Jan 2024, in the evening, as it was getting dark, I had climbed a building onto the roof to take some photos of the twilight with a friend. I did not realise that the skylight in the roof was very weak, and I ended up taking a step back, then ended up falling 20 metres to the ground, my leg then flipped me over on the stairs as I fell.
My friends had to call the emergency services as they could not reach me since the door was locked
The Fire Brigade had to come and break down the door, and the Ambulance came to stabilise me as I could not move.
I was taken from the building in the ambulance with a police escort to the park, where the air ambulance had to transport me to King’s College Hospital.
I found I had fractured my spine in two places, and also caused nerve damage in my leg, so I could not walk as well, as I broke several ribs.
I spent 1 week at King’s College Hospital, then was transferred to Darent Valley Hospital for about a month, then to Gravesend Community Hospital for a few weeks, and finally to Hollenden Park Hospital for intensive physiotherapy to help me learn to walk again.
altogether was in the hospital for about 9 months, so this has made me more resilient than I have ever been before in my life, facing such a huge setback so young.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I say posting consistently on social media platforms such as TikTok & Instagram boosts my reach more than I can ever do using in-person advertising. LinkedIn, which is a good way to connect and network with other creatives in the field that can help you partner up with brands & businesses.
