We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chelsea Neille a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, thanks for joining us today. Do you manage your own social media?
Social Media has been a main, if not the main resource to Golden Hippie Company to continue to thrive. However, with algorithm changes and pivots to optimize and capitalize on these platforms; small business owners, like myself are having to pivot our businesses to continue to keep spreading the news about our small businesses.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media has literally been the saving grace to GHC! From My 1st post in Nov of 2019 to the actual launch in March of 2020, building an authentic audience has always been GHC’s goal. I slowly built my audience by having genuine interactions with anyone who seemed interested with my page. From a few encounters, I was mentioned to an influencer, “Rosemary Retro” and momentum began from there. Providing Quality items, while hosting regular live streams, gave a way for my audience to get to know me as a business owner, as well as GHC. My advice to building a social media presence would be to stay consistent with “showing up”, collaborate often, and actually be apart of the community you are building! That involves regularly highlighting others within your community, shouting out accomplishments and being a resource, even if it’s strictly within what you provide. Your social media presence should embody and display what you and you’re business stand for.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I actually do! GHC provides both manufactured and sourced products. At the beginning, GHC only provided sourced items, however I personally wanted creative control to add an different flare to GHC. I then began to research about the manufacturing of acrylic items, which led me to obtaining the Glowforge, laser printer. I’ve had to learn and take up more skills once “Charlene” was obtained including, graphic designing, construction of acrylic, as well as marketing around the product. The main lesson I’ve learned is that planning is the main key to manufacturing. The quantity, the availability, the price range, all goes into manufacturing and not just the construction of the product.
