Charmayne , appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
In 2013, my husband Marvin was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, an incurable auto-immune disease that attacks the spine and each individual experiences different symptoms. For the next few years, he was in constant pain, his quality of life was diminishing each day and with each visit to doctors and specialists, the only answers we received came in the form of additional pain medications.
In 2016, we were told he was rapidly progressing, that within 10 years, he would require the aid of a walker or be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Feeling defeated was an understatement, but we left with a new purpose, a journey that would lead us down an amazing path to wellness and an improved quality of life. I immediately began researching ways to treat his symptoms at home. He started to feel positive results, after a major diet change, regular exercise, proper supplementation and homemade concoctions. This same year, we were introduced to CBD for the first time. Topical and sublingual application became a large part of his daily regimen. Although pain was still present, it was not nearly as prevalent anymore.
Over the next few years, we would dive deeper into nutrition, inflammation causing food ingredients, and so much more. With the consultation of his doctors, we began weaning him from his medications. His disease was no longer progressing.
Today, my husband has been able to remove all of the 14 original medications he was taking, is completely free of prescription pain medications. and in the best shape of his life. His doctors are astounded by his progress and results.
We love sharing how clean/healthy living habits and utilizing CBD can help improve the quality of life for those that felt or are feeling as defeated as we were.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My background is in business and accounting. I had an amazing career that I truly loved when I began working for Live Rishi in 2020. After my work day was complete, I would head over to the Live Rishi office, to help out any way that I was useful. Entering invoices, shipping packages, assembly line and even in the production lab.
In 2022, I began working for Live Rishi full time, implementing a scaling business plan, and clarifying roles throughout the operation. I worked in every department, handling all of the finances, sourcing materials and ingredients. compliance, production, logistics and more. I became immersed in ensuring quality, integrity and honesty was always the top priority in and out of the lab.
The opportunity to take over Live Rishi, gave us anew passion for sharing and teaching about the benefits of healthy living and CBD.
Our mission is to teach others about the Endocannabinoid system and how CBD can positively affect their lives, with topical and tincture application. We are serving those with symptoms from minor joint pain, and arthritis to those experiencing symptoms from auto-immune and neurodegenerative disorders.
We want our customers to know, that we never compromise when it comes to sourcing quality ingredients, we will always be honest and transparent, and we aim to keep our products affordable and attainable.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
My pivoting point in life came at the age of fifteen, when I became a mother to my son Joshua.
I was hailed as the disappointment, a failure that would not have the means to succeed or be a good provider for my family. Shortly after my son was born, I became a single mother, and formed a plan for our future.
It took a lot longer than I had hoped, but I went back to school, received my GED, started college immediately after and graduated with honors in business.
I worked hard, got over so many hurdles, through so many obstacles, but I am so proud of all the work I have accomplished to get where we are today. 2022, was a year of growth and success for my family.
My son is my reason, he is my “why” and he was my pivot. Becoming a mother was not a mistake, it was a gift that gave me purpose and an extra push (that I needed) and a constant reminder of why I will never settle for less than what we dream of.
With strength, resilience and perseverance, I have reached a point in my life, that I was not always sure was possible for myself, but this is just another beginning to my story.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
In our industry, education is very important when connecting with customers. We believe, that making a personal connection is very beneficial to growing our clientele.
By holding educational seminars, at trade shows, we are able to provide transparency and tell the story behind the products and Live Rishi. By doing this, we are able to actively engage with our customers and answer questions.
In doing so, we are connecting with our customers on a higher level, to show how much we truly care about each of them individually.
We are diligently working on revamping the connectivity side of our business, to reach a broader audience, who are looking for safe, clean and quality products like we were.
