We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chandler Hutson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chandler below.
Chandler , appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
A friend of mine actually came up with the idea for me to start a food Instagram page. We always talk about recipes I enjoy making, easy dinner ideas, cocktails, etc. she thought it would be a great idea to share all of my recipes in one place. When we discussed what the name of the Instagram should be, she said “what’s the first name that comes to mind?” And I instantly answered, The Blonde Food God. I started the page in November ‘21 and it’s been so much fun. I am so thankful for the friends and family who pushed me to step out of my comfort zone.
Chandler , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who don’t know what The Blonde Food God is, it’s an Instagram page where people can come and explore different foods. On my page you’ll find easy dinner recipes, healthy recipes, cocktails, and more. You will also find food reviews, restaurant recommendations, and product reviews. Cooking has always inspired me. Growing up in a traditional southern household, I was surrounded by strong, powerful women who taught me everything I know about cooking. Being in the kitchen is where I can be creative and try out different things. I hope my Instagram page encourages others to step out of their comfort zone in the kitchen.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Having big goals is the driving force that keeps me going everyday. In the beginning, I had little goals- making one new recipe a week, connecting with my followers as much as I could, etc. Fast forward 6 months later my goals are bigger than ever. My next step is to create a Website/Food Blog where people can go and easily access any recipe they need. I want my future website to also inspire individuals to get in the kitchen more and experiment with different foods. My long term goal would be to create a cookbook. Having my own cookbook and seeing all of my recipes in one, would be a dream come true.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media can be hard work. The scariest part can be just taking the leap of faith to get started. If I had to give one piece of advice to someone starting off it would be this: pick your niche, pick your audience. Being a content creator, you have the power to choose who you want to appeal to the most. For me, The Blonde Food God appeals to a wide range of individuals because everyone likes food. I love the variety in my followers and connecting with different people. My audience includes busy parents with full time jobs all the way to college students who need quick and easy meal ideas.
