Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Celeste Gomez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Celeste, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I always knew I wanted to work professionally in my craft. Writing has been something special to me since I was young and I worked very hard to be good at writing English, so I can be an someday. The very moment hit me when I was 8 years old and I attended a writer’s camp. My teacher at the time, Mr. Perkins believed in me and told me I could pursue my passions. After going to the camp, I knew my passion for writing wasn’t just a hobby. Not only was it self-expression for me, but I knew if others could pursue it, why couldn’t I?

Celeste, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

So, I’m an Author and Poet. It has taken a long time for me to get where I am now. Starting seriously when it comes to writing is very hard. It tests your limits and patience. I learned more about writing honestly when I graduated college, meaning the publishing process. My degree is in Creative Writing, but I didn’t learn that much about the publishing world until I started to build my creative network. I sell my first book, “Besos” in English and Spanish. It’s on multiple platforms such as Bookshop and Barnes & Noble! Being the first in my family to be an Author – I’m a girl who came from Pico Rivera, to be an Author has made me very proud.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?

The best way to support creatives is to help their social media flow/page. Meaning, reposting, commenting, and saving an artist’s work. It goes a long way and helps us be seen and beat the algorithm. It is also free as well! Anything helps, especially exposure!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect is when people can connect with your art and feel seen. As. a poet, you share a stage with them and bring your voices together. It’s a beautiful thing.
