Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cecelia Nelson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cecelia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started sooner or later?
If I could go back, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. There were times I wished I had started sooner—earned my licenses earlier and focused on building my firm years ago. But I’ve come to realize that life isn’t about rushing the timeline; it’s about living it fully, without regret.
Everything happens when it’s meant to. When you can look back and say, “I gave my best to get where I am today,” that’s what truly matters. Every experience—mistakes included—has shaped who I am.
I’ve been in the finance industry for about 4–5 years now, and in that time I’ve learned more than I ever expected. Starting when I did gave me perspective I wouldn’t have had otherwise. It taught me that timing isn’t something to fight—it’s something to trust.

Cecelia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Cecelia Nelson, and I’m a Financial Advisor with Nelson Wealth Strategies. My work centers around helping business owners, professionals, and families become more intentional with their finances—especially when it comes to building, protecting, and transitioning wealth.
My journey into this industry wasn’t traditional. I spent years working in the legal field, primarily in personal injury, where I gained a deep understanding of how financial decisions, or the lack of planning, can impact people during some of the most critical moments of their lives. I saw firsthand how quickly circumstances can change, and how many individuals and families were left unprepared—not because they didn’t care, but because they didn’t have the right guidance.
That experience shifted my perspective and ultimately led me into financial services. I wanted to be on the proactive side—helping people structure their financial lives in a way that creates stability, clarity, and long-term opportunity.
At Nelson Wealth Strategies, we focus on comprehensive financial planning. That includes tax-efficient strategies, retirement planning, business planning, estate coordination, and investment guidance. Many of the clients I work with are business owners, attorneys, and high-income professionals who are doing well financially but want to be more strategic about how they grow and protect their wealth.
One of the biggest problems I help solve is the gap between earning income and actually building lasting wealth. A lot of people are working hard and making good money, but without a clear structure, they may be overpaying in taxes, underutilizing available strategies, or lacking a long-term plan for where everything is going. We help bring organization and intentionality to that process.
What sets me apart is how I approach relationships. I don’t believe in transactional planning or one-size-fits-all solutions. I take the time to understand each client’s situation—both professionally and personally—so the strategies we put in place actually align with their goals. I also collaborate closely with CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure that every part of a client’s financial life is working together, not in silos.
I’m also very focused on education. Whether it’s through conversations, content, or speaking, my goal is to make financial concepts clear and accessible. When people understand how things work, they make better decisions—and that’s where real confidence comes from.
What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve been able to have in a relatively short period of time. Helping clients reduce unnecessary tax exposure, create more efficient structures for their businesses, and gain clarity around their long-term plans is incredibly rewarding. But more than anything, I’m proud of the trust my clients place in me.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that this work is about more than numbers—it’s about helping people build a life that’s aligned with what matters most to them. My role is simply to provide the structure, strategy, and guidance to help make that possible.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective strategies for growing my clientele has been building genuine relationships rather than focusing on transactions. Early on, I realized that trust is the foundation of this industry—especially when you’re working with business owners and professionals who have spent years building what they have.
Instead of leading with what I do, I lead with curiosity. I take time to understand how someone operates, what challenges they’re facing, and what they’re ultimately trying to build. From there, I look for ways to add value—whether that’s through a strategic insight, a connection to someone in my network, or simply offering a different perspective.
Another key driver has been collaboration. A large portion of my growth has come from relationships with attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals who serve similar clients. When you align yourself with people who prioritize their clients the same way you do, referrals happen naturally.
I’ve also been very intentional about education and content. Sharing insights around tax strategies, retirement planning, and wealth-building in a clear and practical way has helped position me as a resource, not just an advisor. People want to work with someone who helps them understand the “why,” not just the “what.”
At the end of the day, growth has come from consistency—showing up, adding value, and building trust over time.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There are a few resources that have had a significant impact on how I think about business, leadership, and long-term wealth building.
One of the most influential books for me has been The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It reinforced the importance of trusting the journey and staying aligned with your purpose, even when the path isn’t always clear. In business, especially as an entrepreneur, there are moments where things don’t happen on your timeline—and that perspective has helped me stay grounded and focused.
Another book that stands out is Failing Forward by John Maxwell. It shifted how I view challenges and setbacks. Instead of seeing failure as something to avoid, it becomes something to learn from and build on. That mindset is incredibly important—not just in business, but in helping clients navigate financial decisions with confidence over time.
A scripture that has also stayed with me is Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” That verse has been a constant reminder to trust in the Lord and know that he is guiding me, even when things don’t fully make sense in the moment.
Beyond specific books or content, one of the biggest influences on my philosophy has been experience. Seeing what works (and what doesn’t) in real time has shaped how I approach planning, relationships, and growth.
Overall, the common theme across everything that’s influenced me is this: long-term success is built on clarity, consistency, and thoughtful decision-making—not shortcuts.
