We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cathy Weaver a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Cathy, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I have been Networking full time now since 2008. My business has expanded and during this time, Jesus prompted me to write a BOOK about Networking … WHAT !!! So I sat down at my desk and the next thing you know, “Networking On Steroids” was born. With that first book (Who knew there would be 3 more, so far) I was asked to speak and train other groups and organizations on the skills and techniques I share in my first book.
Since that time, my groups have grown, my reach has grown, I get to Network often internationally, and zoom is one of my favorite ways to meet people from other countries. I found Posting Parties in 2020 and I now get to host about 10 a month now, helping groups and organizations get more organic traffic and increase their algorithm on their posts and their profiles.
Did I mention – I LOVE NETWORKING !!!

Cathy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For many years now, I have chosen to figure it out when it comes to health and wellness and in 2008, I found Enagic, the Kangen Water Company – or should I say – it found ME. This technology began in the 70’s and is still changing lives every day. When I bought my ionizer, I needed a way to share what I found with the world and my Networking career was born. I have written 2 books about Networking and one of my business coaches suggested – strongly – that I share my personal journey, so my first grief and bereavement book was published in 2017. Since that time, I have published another on that topic and both can be found on MyFinalFootprints.com – my Networking books have their own playlists on my YouTube Channel, thus, all my books are free.
Training is definitely in my blood so I found the Posting Party platform to show others how to get all the free advertising on some of the social media platforms and now I get to help other teams grow their networks. The World is a great big, beautiful place and I love meeting new people each and every week.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

I have been Networking in-person since 2008 – ABWA, PolkaDot PowerHouse, Chambers of Commerce all throughout the Midwest – so when a little thing like the Global Pandemic shut most of my in-person events down, I had to punt and pivot in a big way to keep my business going. “Networking On Steroids” my first book about Networking in person, basically a guide for extroverts – was published in 2012 – so NOW with the shutdown, what was a Master Networker to do? The birth of my next Networking book “Networking On Steroids PQ” A Guide To Networking In A World Post Quarantine, was published in July of 2020. This book is a great guide for remote Networking, for everyone, but mostly my introvert community loves this method of Networking virtually. The Pandemic, although tragic for many, has proven to be a catalyst for international growth for me and for my business.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Many people who own Networking Marketing Companies, at least many who I have met, seem to have the expectation that money and new team members fall out of the sky. The expectation is that owning and running a business just means that you show up to a meeting every once in a while and BOOM, business happens. Although that was not my expectation, I did find out, early on, that NetWORKING means just that – WORKING – and I had to learn, basically from the ground up, what Networking meant and how to do it effectively, My first book was born out of personal experience and soon I was running Networking groups and events and training college students, headed out into the world to begin their own careers, and teams and organizations how to get the most out of their Networking efforts.
PS – I have NOT found that money or business falls directly down from the sky.
