Cassie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for SlayaPaints by incorporating my love for art with relaxation. I believe everyone deserves to wine down after a long workday or workweek. Expressing yourself through creativity just makes it more worthwhile. I knew if would work because it’s something I know people would enjoy with their friends other than just going to brunch every weekend.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the industry with the help of a very good friend of mine, Jessica Mcintee. We collaborated at her hair salon since it was super easy to reach my target audience (women and men who are looking for a creative outlet). I provide everything needed to make every event a success such as easels, paint, canvases (stenciled), photography if desired, as well as whatever playlist that will set the vibe. I cater to all clientele by ensuring that their sip & paint experience is tailored to them. I am most proud of the fact that I am able to host events at beautiful locations and I am able to adapt to my clients needs so they always have the best experience.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My sip & paint journey started off extremely slow. I wasn’t sure how to market my business via social media so I had to do it differently. I had to learn what my following wanted to see and it was all about aesthetics. As soon as i learned that beautiful pictures win the game it was up from there!
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Do not ever let anyone tell you a 9-5 won’t work! I was able to fund my business by using my compensation from my regular 9-5. It has opened so many doors that i could not imagine and my current position will allow me to fund all of my other ventures.
