Casey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The moment I realized I wanted to pursue photography professionally was when I had my daughter’s newborn photos taken. As someone who’s always been creative and artsy, I remember searching for a photographer who could understand my vision—someone who could bring my ideas to life. Watching the photographer pose my tiny baby, capturing the delicate details like her tiny fingers and toes, while also bringing my vision to reality, was an incredibly fulfilling experience. It sparked a small desire to learn photography myself.
But it wasn’t until I received the completed images weeks later that I truly knew I wanted to make this a career. I couldn’t decide which photos I wanted to print—they all felt so perfect! I found myself wanting to share every single one, excitedly showcasing every photo to anyone who would look. I remember tears of joy as I realized how fast she was growing and how she would never be that tiny again. I even told myself, “I should have taken just one photo holding her.” I must’ve said “Ooo! Look at this one!” a hundred times, with a constant stream of “Awwwws!”
That experience made me realize that I didn’t just want to capture every special moment of my daughter’s life—I wanted to help others relive those same deep, heartfelt feelings, preserving their most cherished memories through photography.

Casey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Casey Walton, owner of Casey Walton Photography. I was born and raised in Panama City Beach, Fl, I am a a wife, Mom, photographer and artist. I have been pursuing photography for about 3 years now. I’m a photographer with a deep passion for capturing life’s most meaningful moments. My journey into photography began in one of the most personal ways possible—when I had my daughter’s newborn photos taken. She is my world, and seeing how the photographer captured her in a single frame flooded me with emotions. It was in that moment that I realized the true power of photography—preserving moments that might otherwise fade with time. That experience ignited a spark in me, and from then on, I knew I wanted to help others relive those emotions by working with me.
As I jumped into this goal, I took my research and training seriously. I joined multiple photography groups, watched an endless amount of online classes, shadowed sessions, found a teacher, and participated in some workshops! I still do these. I was able to jump into the industry a little bit easier because I found a teacher that is a photographer and runs a mom group. She puts a focus on trying to help every mom become their best self, and with that, she let me join her photography team while also pursing my own.
I specialize in a variety of photography styles, from portraits and maternity sessions to family shoots, cake smashes, and the natural beauty of the world—from beaches and flowers to animals. I also operate a natural light studio in my home, where I create intimate, authentic images that showcase my subjects in their best light. Lately, I’ve been expanding into wedding photography, capturing love stories in a way that’s both timeless and artistic. My approach is centered around storytelling, ensuring that every couple’s gallery feels unique, heartfelt, and personal.
In addition to client sessions, I’m branching out to offer custom abstract canvas art and fine art prints of my work. These pieces give people the chance to bring my artistic vision into their homes, and it’s another way I can share my creativity with a wider audience.
What sets my brand apart is my commitment to crafting meaningful, lasting imagery. I don’t just take photos—I document emotions, connections, and the small, in-between moments that make life truly special. Whether it’s a wedding, milestone celebration, painting, or fine art print, my goal is the same: to capture something real, something beautiful, and something that will stand the test of time.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Photography is an intimate experience, and being invited into someone’s most cherished moments is an honor I never take for granted.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing my brand, especially in the wedding photography space, and to take on my first international destination wedding. I can’t wait to connect and create on a global scale.
For those discovering my work for the first time, I want them to know that photography is more than just my career—it’s my passion, my art, and my way of preserving the magic in everyday life. Whether you’re seeking a photographer, a custom print for your home, or an artist who truly understands the importance of storytelling, I’d love to connect and create something beautiful together.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the freedom to truly be myself. Photography allows me to see the world through my own lens; literally and creatively. There are no rules telling me how to feel, how to create, or how to express what moves me. I get to follow my instincts and capture the beauty I see in a way that feels authentic to me.
Beyond that, being able to connect with others through my work is incredibly fulfilling; I mean, that was one of my main goals. Whether I am photographing a couple’s love story, a child’s milestone, or the quiet beauty of nature, I am sharing a piece of my perspective with the world. Knowing that my art resonates with people, evokes emotions, and preserves meaningful moments makes this whole journey worth it.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think one of the biggest things non-creatives might struggle to understand is that being an artist isn’t just about talent or passion, it is a personal journey filled with vulnerability, self-doubt, and constant evolution. Creativity isn’t something you can switch on and off, it comes in waves, and sometimes, the most challenging part is trusting yourself enough to keep going, even when inspiration feels out of reach.
There is also the misconception that being a “creative business owner” must always be “fun and so easy”because we get to do what we love. And while this is true in many ways, there is an emotional weight to putting your work out into the world. Every photograph I take is a reflection of my vision, my experiences, and how I see beauty. That means rejection or criticism can feel personal in a way that is hard to explain. Not only do we worry about our client’s response, but a lot of photographers also face imposter syndrome when it comes to social media.
**Google explains Imposter Syndrome for photographers simply: “You are hesitant about sharing your work on social media out of fear that someone with more skills in photography will criticize you and ultimately figure out that you aren’t a “professional” like them.”
Overall, I think the insight I would like to share with non-creatives is that being an artist isn’t just a career, it’s a way of life. It requires resilience, trust in yourself, and the willingness to be seen. And while it may not always be the easiest path, it is absolutely worth it.
