Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Casey Muze. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Casey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
In 2016, I came across a sign in the downtown area of Nacogdoches that would become a pivotal landmark in my journey and testimony. The sign, illuminated by a bulb just above it, reads “One Way,” with an arrow pointing to the left. It’s mounted on a pillar at an intersection, right near a building that once housed Godtel, a resource for the homeless—those battling substance abuse and mental health disorders.
If you know anything about my journey at the time, you’d know how deeply intertwined it was with counseling. I served as a substance abuse counselor, working with adolescents who often faced co-occurring disorders—substance abuse combined with mental health challenges. But on this particular day, the focus wasn’t on counseling. It was on something bigger that was about to unfold.
Me and four of my friends, or “Homies,” gathered percussion instruments of all kinds. They had nudged me to take something I had started at my home—Starr Avenue Music Nights, a creative space with bonfires, music, art, and celebration—and bring it into the heart of the city. It didn’t take much convincing. We made our way down Main Street in Nacogdoches, Texas, and found ourselves at this very intersection, illuminated by that sign. The one that reads “One Way.”
That moment marked the beginning of a journey that has shaped me into who I am today—nearly a decade later, I’m a man who provides education and speaks about cognitive science, particularly the bilateral kind, all wrapped into drumming. But it all stems from this intersection, from this sign that pointed the way forward.
The sign wasn’t just a literal marker; it was a symbolic one. It told me, “This journey goes this way, and this way only.” And I realized then that if I chose to walk this path, I needed to understand something important: it wasn’t for the faint of heart. There would be nothing easy about it. Along the way, I would learn much about myself, about how I interact with others, and about faith.
Standing there at that intersection, I felt something profound. That sign, with its simple message, marked so much more than directions. It marked the beginning of a journey I’m proud to still be walking today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I realize that every bit of my services that were created in my business named “AvenueSpeak LLC” was still following the idea of selling me. Selling Trust. Selling my authenticity. I made the choice to change my business name to caseymuze..com and completely rebrand from that idea.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I am at the place where most of my business comes from word of mouth. As old school as the idea of email marketing is. It has worked wonders.
