We were lucky to catch up with Case Kenny recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Case thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I started my podcast New Mindset, Who Dis in 2018 and had some initial success but I specifically recall a moment in 2020 where I was walking down Wacker Dr. in Chicago. I was waiting to cross a street and there was a woman standing next to me doing the same. She had headphones on and didn’t say a word but she tapped me on my shoulder and then held her phone up and showed that she was listening to my podcast. It was such an online > IRL moment and really validated what I was doing. It reminded me that what we do online has real offline effects and I’ve had countless moments like that since, but that moment in particular really inspired me to go all in on the podcast and writing and cast aside any lingering imposter syndrome I had. A year later, I quit my job and became a full time “dude who shares his feelings for a living.”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I joke that I “share my feelings for a living” but that’s exactly what I do. I host a podcast via SiriusXM and I’m an author on all things mindfulness. I’ve pasted my official bio below:
Case Kenny is an entrepreneur, mindfulness expert, host and founder of the top 25 Apple podcast New Mindset, Who Dis. Beloved by some of today’s biggest celebrities including Hailey Bieber, Sophia Bush, John Cena, and Lucy Hale and featured on Good Morning America, you might recognize him from his viral coffee cup and post-it quotes on Instagram, which have been shared by millions and featured by The Today Show, Complex, Forbes, Women’s Health, Cosmopolitan and many more.
Created in 2018, Kenny’s podcast New Mindset, Who Dis features his short, no-B.S.take on all things mindfulness in a relatable way, empowering people to be happier and live more fulfilling lives by changing their mindsets in all areas of life spanning from self worth + empowerment to dating + relationships, career advice and more. The podcast has received over 6,000 5-star reviews and accolades such as Spotify Editor’s Choice, iHeart Radio Top 10 Health, Deezer and Stitcher Radio Editor’s Choice and others, and has held a position as a top 25 podcast on both the Apple Podcasts and Spotify charts for the past 3 years.
As part of the podcast, Kenny also produces special “music x mindfulness” episodes, where he collaborates with top artists + DJs including Martin Garrix, Gryffin, Two Friends, Cheat Codes, Frank Walker + Sam Feldt to bring mindfulness to life in an energizing and unique way for listeners.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Relatability. I am steadfast in rarely referring to myself as an “expert” or life coach or anything like that. My value is that of being a normal human being who has tapped into a skill we can all develop – mindfulness. I’ve done 500+ podcast episodes and I’ve written thousands of articles and pieces of content from this lens and I refuse to be someone I’m not. I think my dedication to that has really helped people understand the value I offer.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I invested 12 years into my career in advertising and technology sales. Amidst that I started writing and podcasting and eventually had a huge pivot to make – continue to side hustle OR quit my job and go all in. This was a huge decision to make and not an easy one considering all the effort I had put into my sales career and the fact that I was good at it. There was nothing “wrong” with it. I enjoyed it and I felt fulfilment from it, BUT I felt such a strong emotional and creative pull from what I do now that eventually I made the decision to quit and pivot. I’ve never looked back and it’s been the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made.
