We were lucky to catch up with Carona Davis-Diop recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Carona, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always loved to write. Growing up in New York City’s Greenwich Village gave me the opportunity and creative freedom to do just that. With the support and knowledge of my mother, teachers and mentors I continued to write.
I lived in Marietta Ga with my family for sometime and decided then to do a short horror film which I’d never done before. It was also my first script. My first project Infatuation was followed by a stream of comedy skits (with the help of my family) which are all still viewed on YouTube and other social media platforms. In 2014 I moved back up north to New Jersey and that’s where I brought my dream to fruition.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
These days with social media and digital purchasing there is a shortage in personal customer care. Many of us need that contact, conversation and face to face interaction because this is how we learn to work with others. I want my business to be that shoulder and held hand for the new content creator or filmmaker. I want my business to give back what was given by building quality projects, scripts and programs that will not only educate the filmmaking community but create collaborations between like minded brands. Growth from within and collaboration is key.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Trust. I do my best to make my clients feel at home and comfortable whether it’s in person, on the phone or during a video call. A client that trusts and feels comfortable with the business they are using is more likely to return.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I have learned that the entertainment industry is its own little world and if you think you know everything…. This world will let you know quickly that you don’t know anything. Learn your craft, study, watch videos and if you can take classes. The more skills you accumulate, the more valuable you become. Just because one person or project says no doesn’t mean the next one will. Keep fighting for your position in this world and contribute the best you can. Make your mark.
