We were lucky to catch up with Caroline Lizarraga recently and have shared our conversation below.
Caroline, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
For me I think you have to be your heart and soul into what you do. Because my job is my passion, it is easy for me pour my everything in. Take risks, be open to ideas, work hard and be ready for when your moment strikes. I think also balance and happiness is so important. you have to take care of yourself as well. This all reflects in your business.
Also I think people think we became successful overnight, but I have been painting for over 20 years…perfecting my career. It takes time to get to the top of your game and stay there
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a decorative artist who works in the residential and commercial interior design world. We design custom wall finishes that include plasters, murals, gold leaf, and lacquers to name a few materials. We also do furniture, floors, and verre eglomise ( a french technique of gilding the back of glass to turn into a mirror finish). I started out in the fashion business, but had a hobby of buying furniture at garage sales and flea markets. I would then redo the pieces I had bought. The first piece I bought I paid $20 for it and I designer offered me $1200. I had a feeling I was onto to something and I moved to Italy to study restoration. I then returned to the states, and apprenticed under a decorative painter before going out on my own.
I absolutely love my job, it is my passion in life. I am incredibly lucky and grateful to work not only with the most amazing clients, but the best craftsmen and artists in the world.
I think people love working with us because we always come to the table with unique ideas. Most times people didn’t realize you could even do these designs and concepts on walls. Whatever you can dream up, we can do
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am very committed to bringing fine art to people’s walls. I try to create original work custom to each client. Once I do something, I don’t want to do it again, I really strive to give each person their own art. I am incredibly driven to keep people guessing with what we are doing next. I like to keep it fresh and pushing our work to the next level.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I really never did social media until about two years ago. I committed to posting a beautiful photo of our work once a day. I got very lucky and several big designers saw our work and loved it. The reposted our work and things just started growing from there. I have had several people tell me they get so excited to see what I post every morning. I am so honored that people take interest in our work.
