We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carolina Mancias. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carolina below.
Alright, Carolina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned to be an actor and performer through formal training, on a performing arts college, and through practical experience from auditions, performances, and collaborations. Putting yourself out there is where you learn the most in this industry. I quickly realized that while technique and training are key, they’re the foundation of everything, they’re not what makes it an art. What I mean is, sometimes you watch someone perform, and they may not be the most technically perfect, but they captivate you, making you want to keep watching and listening. The artist allows you in, and that isn’t achieved through training alone but through vulnerability. Over time, I realized that beyond technique, the core of acting is vulnerability, allowing yourself to become everything you are, everything you’re not, and even what you’re afraid of. That’s where authentic performances live. If I could’ve sped up my learning, I would’ve embraced failure and open myself sooner and explored more techniques to access that raw, authentic space, until finding the right one for me, which I am still on the look for. The most essential skills have been curiosity, awareness, discipline and the courage to lean into vulnerability. My biggest obstacle was myself, fear of truly being and putting myself out there. I was my own barricade, but facing that fear deepened both my growth and my performances.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an actor and performer born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. Driven by a dream to pursue what I love most, I moved to Los Angeles, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theatre. That journey stumbled across sacrifices and challenges, but I owe everything to my parents, who’ve supported me every step of the way from home.
I love to explore all types of fields in this industry, writing, film, theatre, music, etc. My goal is to tell authentic stories, connecting with people on an emotional level. I believe that art isn’t just here to look pretty and entertain one another but to create noise and to give a voice to the unheard and inspire change, it’s a powerful tool we all need to take advantage of.
I’m proud of my growth and resilience to be better every day, focusing on comparing my journey not to others, but to myself. That mindset has shaped me both personally and artistically. Through my work, I aim to be a messenger for stories that matter, creating meaningful connections with audiences everywhere.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Art is revolutionary. It’s not just about entertainment, it’s a powerful tool for delivering messages, sparking movements, and creating change. Art speaks loud words. It’s a form of expression the world desperately needs, especially right now with everything happening around us. It’s about freedom of speech, pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and giving people the space to express truths that might otherwise be silenced. It connects people across different backgrounds, giving a voice to those who often go unheard. My mission is to be a messenger for those voices, to tell stories that matter, that challenge, that heal, and that inspire. I want my work to be more than just performances and storytelling, I want it to be a bridge for connection, reflection, and understanding in a world that needs it more than ever.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Someone believing you. For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is people believing that what you did was true. That’s what we do as artists: we tell many truths across different realities, some close to our own and others not so much. But when someone believes you, when they connect with that truth, that’s the greatest reward. It means the story, the emotion, or the message resonated beyond the performance itself. That connection, where your work touches someone’s heart or shifts their perspective, is what makes being an artist so meaningful to me.
