Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carol Weinberg. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Carol , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
Keeping fees high. The cost of working has gone up but the end product stays the same or less. The industry wants more for less and gets it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I graduated from the H.S. of Art and Design and Parsons, studying Art, and Photography. I have been working as a photographer for many years, shooting Fashion, Beauty, Portraits, and Music. I Photographed many artists for BMG, GRP, and, RCA Music. I also work making PSAs doing video and still photography. I also work in fashion for commercial clients and editorial. I produce the shoots by booking the talent and locations. Putting a team together and working with my creative director and editor to give the clients an inspiring product.
My assignments often took me to different parts of the world and as a result, I have built a vast archive of original images which I now draw from in creating new Mixed Media Art by repurposing my images. Adding these to the painted canvas and playing with the photos and the paint creates a new vision of reality.
I’m inspired by the captured image. I love to walk around and photograph the textures of the city or flowers and nature in a different way. The relationship I have to my subject matter is the reasonability of people to protect and respect the environment. My passion for working to save our environment has been my primary concern. Integrating and blending images together creates a world that is a combination of reality and fantasy. I find beauty in our world, that of which we have produced such as graffiti, and architecture, and have blended it into the natural organic world. For example, integrating and combining images to celebrate the world around us by showing a unique tree surrounded by old textured walls is represented in my photography.
I also love to photograph all types of people. I have worked with many musicians, models, and celebrities. Some of my favorites have been A Tribe Called Quest, James Galloway, Steven Tyler, Kevi Ubanks, Chick Chorea, and Luciano Szafir .

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was shooting for Cherry Hill Mall a catalog for all the stores in the mall. The campaign was Cherry Hill Mall travels to different cities around the world. The first shoot was in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. It was all shot outside and it rained for a week straight. We had to work in the rain. We booked local models and had a small van for them to dress in. I found every overhang in the city to shoot them underneath. We did an Aveda beauty shot on the beach and we had to hold a sheet over the model and products so they wouldn’t get wet. When we got back home the catalog came out, you couldn’t tell it rained at all. I won the whole campaign and we traveled all over the world.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My journey is to give more meaning to my work. My identity as shown in my Artwork has a sense of humor to it and I use it to break out of my shyness. As an artist, I feel like the culmination of my work has all come together in my recent pieces. I want to get in touch with the subconscious stresses of life and the challenges that we all face. By living in the moment and breaking out of my comfort zone I look to experience the world in new ways. To give back and make Art that makes a difference is my goal.
