Hi Camila , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

My most memorable project so far has been documenting my golf journey with my family on social media. I have shared many memorable moments with my parents, posting lessons learned, funny stories and celebrating our family time on the course together.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Camila and I am a Mexican-American athlete and content creator. With my parent’s help, I started documenting my journey of playing golf. Over the past year, I see space for breaking down barriers for Latinas entering the golf space. My personal brand is incorporating my Mexican heritage and showing other teens that involvement in sports is a great way to live a healthy lifestyle, spend time with your loved ones, build community and have fun. I like to focus on my experience as a teen girl and showing the benefits of sports for girls.

How did you build your audience on social media?

My biggest advice to teen creators is to post your videos no matter how many followers you have or if you think people are paying attention. Over time, I have been able to grow and engage with more followers and I’m very thankful to all the people that support my content. My advice is also to get parent help. There are many things to be aware of when posting on social media so being aware and having your parents help is important. Keep your posts positive and start by focusing on one or two things you really enjoy. Whether it’s dance, music, sports or any other hobby you enjoy, start posting and see what works best for you.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to grow my follower base and to continue to have a positive space that showcases exercise, spending time with family and friends and learning a new skill. There are many businesses that have jobs in social media and marketing and I would love to eventually be able to get an internship during college where I can continue to show my creative side.
