We recently connected with Camden Yacobucci and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Camden thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
The first dollar that I can remember had to be the first time I ever street performed in New York City. I remember this like it was yesterday. I was going to school at St. Francis College in Brooklyn and on one random off day I ordered a huge rolling speaker that came with a bluetooth microphone. I always walked by people busking and thought to myself this would be an amazing way to get my music heard by hundreds of people, and fast too!
When the speaker came to my dorm I was so eager to get out there I’m pretty sure I went the next night. It didn’t have the best sound quality because it was all I could afford, but it got the job done.
Once I arrived to Times Square I probably paced for at least an hour. It was very hard to work up the courage to do something this bold in front of thousands of strangers. I started off by just playing music I liked and it calmed me down. Then I turned on my own music.
This was the moment that changed everything! Before I came to New York all my friends and family said they love my music but I needed some honest feedback. New York is where I got just that.
The song started playing and I started rapping like it was just me in my bedroom. Next thing I know, there’s a circle starting to form around me with people smiling and nodding their heads. Then people started to drop a couple bucks here and there and it was mind blowing that my passion caused someone to give me their hard earned money.
I had to stop after a few more songs because I had no idea you need a real permit to busk in a place like Times Square. This was just the start of many many more times I performed on different streets and different cities, being blessed with more and more money for my creative works!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Camden Yacobucci or better known as “Yacobucci”. I make all kinds of music from pop/punk to hip-hop to even a pop song in Spanish! I get inspired by so many things and just love to create. Wether that’s music, videos, or clothing. I started recording myself around the age of 16 and it has been a wild journey. You can actually go back close to the beginning when I started to pursue music full time on my YouTube channel vlogs!
As much as I love creating and performing music, I have learned that I can do more than I ever thought possible with this platform. That is why I branded my art as “Music For The Outcasts”. This isn’t about me it’s about making the fans and listeners feel like they are seen, or even understood. Because at the end of the day I am just a weird outcast myself. If I can make a great difference using the talents God has blessed me with, then I would say that’s a life worth living.
I perform with a full band and we bring a high energy electric show to every venue we play at. We have toured three times and played hundreds of different shows big and small. Performing is where I feel like myself. That is where I can have that real genuine connection with the people and the music. It’s a really beautiful thing.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Something that has always been hard for people to understand and for me to balance is the work you have to put into a dream like this. There’s no step by step guide to “making it” in the music industry. The best way for me to describe it is like throwing darts in a dark room at a target. You never know what will stick so you gotta just keep trying new things all the time. Sometimes this unhealthy work ethic can get in the way of time with family and friends. This is something I continue to grow better at and understanding that it’s okay to rest and take breaks even if you feel like you NEED to be productive. At the end of the day, leave it all up to God and he will ALWAYS guide you exactly where you need to be.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of this career choice has to be the people. Music is such a powerful tool that has helped millions of people get through life. One song can put a smile on someones face. One song can help another person feel like they belong. One song can inspire another person to make a change and do good.
The way music translates to certain people is one of the most amazing things I have ever gotten to witness. I have gotten messages from fans saying that my music has helped them more than I would ever know and that right there, that is why I do this. Wether God puts my music in front of millions or just helps three people get through their days, it will always be worth it!
