We were lucky to catch up with C. Spencer Reddick IV recently and have shared our conversation below.
C. Spencer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it takes grit, determination, education, and a lot of hard work to become successful. You have to have grit because there are going to be a lot of no’s before you get to a yes and you have to be able to put your head down be determined and persevere anyway. You also have to be educated in your specific industry and niche to be successful. Your niche is going to be the thing that takes you to the next level in your specific industry or business. Don’t try to be everything to everyone be very focused and detailed. Success comes from going narrow and deep in your niche not wide and shallow in your industry.
Last but not least HARD WORK you are going to have to sacrifice, put in the time, and put in the work to be successful.
C. Spencer, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was first introduced to real estate by my mother and I was introduced to finance by my father, both of which provide a solid foundation for me professionally and personally. My mother was a realtor and later a broker-associate/office manager for OmniOne Realty Group where I am currently, and my father was a financial advisor for a financial services firm. So I grew up having conversations about business and attending showing/meetings surrounding real estate and finance.
My introduction to real estate as a professional begin in 2012 after leaving Florida A&M University, I found myself at OmniOne’s office looking for my next steps. I took the necessary steps to earn my Florida real estate license in 2013 and would later earn my Florida brokers license in 2019.
Currently I am in associate-broker at OmniOne Realty Group where I specialize in commercial leasing/sales, and luxury residential sales. As a commercial advisor I assist clients navigate the commercial leasing and sales process tailoring solutions around tenant representation, franchise services, investments, and more. As an advisor it is my responsibility to provide clients with the the best strategies, acumen, and negotiations to put their business in the best position for success. As a luxury home advisor it is my responsibility to provide the same level of services to my clients looking to enter the luxury home sales process.
I am most passionate about commercial leasing/sales because of the opportunity it presents and how I am able to have an economic impact on businesses, families, and municipalities. There is no greater feeling than seeing the joy of a business owner getting the keys to their new space and watching how they transform their dreams into reality.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The things that I think have help me build a solid reputation in my market are being honest, being diligent, being knowledgeable, as well as having relationships with complementary industries.
I am very honest with my clients about their expectations and how to get the desired outcomes they want. Also I am very diligent about finding or creating what it is that they are searching for or need during a particular transaction. I am also very knowledgeable about the markets submarkets and different sectors of the real estate industry. The main thing that has helped me build my reputation has been having relationships with other businesses in complementary industries so that I can act as a “one-stop shop“ advisor for my clients.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategies for growing my clientele have been a combination of social media, referrals, and old-fashioned networking.
Referrals come from doing good business, and is magnified on social media. But nothing beats old fashion networking and building long lasting relationships.
