We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brooke & Madison Loza a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brooke & Madison, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
It all started in 2020 when Brooke Loza, also known as The Eco Twin started an Instagram account to raise awareness about the devastating environmental impact that our consumption creates. What started out as zero waste product guides and informational posts turned into easy and affordable ways people like herself could become more sustainable and work towards a low waste lifestyle. Throughout the years, Brooke and her sister Madison believed that everyone should have equal access to sustainable and affordable zero waste products. They wanted their belief to be backed by actionable change, inspiring them to create an environmentally-driven business, thus the One Stop Eco Shop was created. Now, the overwhelming thought of rising landfills can be addressed by providing sustainable choices and control over consumption. As rising sophomores in college, Brooke and Madison want to continue to empower individuals in fostering sustainable change.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a zero waste store, our goal is to help our community reduce their individual waste so that no more trash goes towards our landfills. To combat this issue, we provide our community with sustainable alternatives as well as a refill station. Our customers are able to bring their own containers to refill beauty, personal hygiene, home products, and more! By reusing containers they already have at home, our customers can ditch excess plastic and create a more circular and sustainable process of consumption. At the One Stop Eco Shop, our vision is to also tackle the stigma of zero waste lifestyles as unaffordable. As college students, we have to constantly consider price in the choices we make, and we empathize with this concern about zero waste products with our community. We strive to offer our customers the most affordable but also low waste sustainable products. We deeply value educating our community about the benefits and affordability to zero waste. We are proud to be the first online zero waste store based in Brick, New Jersey. While we have been operating online and participating in local farmers markets this past year, we just opened the first Zero waste and Refill in Ocean County, NJ To make an even larger impact and bring in more products for our customers to refill. By making these sustainable products more accessible for our community, we can all contribute to a low waste future! We are excited to welcome you to our storefront this summer!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Our audience on social media has been built not only by the support from our community but from being open and sharing behind the scenes of our business! For those just starting to build a social media presence here are a few things to consider: your audience, message, branding, and posting schedule. Finding a consist schedule that works for you is key to reaching your community.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele that we have found is marketing through social media and events. Through our farmers markets we have been able to market to other businesses and shoppers there and talk about the products we offer and what we do as a company. By going to markets, we have the chance to directly reach our target audience while also raising awareness of our mission and brand. Along with this, keeping up a consistent social media posting strategy with short videos has been extremely helpful.
