Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Filips. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I lost my Apple AirPods while juggling five jobs at once. I went back to my part-time job to search for them, and while wandering the parking lot feeling slightly ridiculous, I ran into a boss who would change my life. We started talking, and I told him my story—that I was doing marketing for the business next door and struggling to prove my value because of my bubbly personality. He saw something in me anyway and offered me my first opportunity in biotech.
From that moment on, I followed him as a leader because he gave me what I needed most: training, kindness, and real opportunity. In the roles that followed, he allowed me to learn, make mistakes, and grow without judgment. Because of that support, I now have a successful career and work on projects I never imagined I’d have the chance to pursue.
I’m a first-generation college student who never thought these opportunities were possible. I even stepped away from school for two years to care for my nephew as a young mom figure experiences that created gaps on my résumé but shaped who I am. They’re the kind of life chapters that don’t fit neatly on paper, but they taught me resilience, responsibility, and determination.

Brittany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I taught yoga for eight years because it was a flexible job that allowed me to support myself while going to college and stepping in as a temporary mom to my nephew. What began as a practical solution turned into an unexpected foundation for my future. I ultimately stumbled into my career path—and I haven’t looked back since. Today, I have a career that allows me to help others on a much greater scale, and that means everything to me.
I am incredibly proud of pursuing my dream of going to college. Many people take that opportunity for granted, but for me, it always felt like a privilege I was fortunate to have. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth every sacrifice.
I’m also proud to see my work displayed on ad boards and featured across multiple channels. Even more than that, I take pride in the dedication and hours I’ve put in beyond the 9-to-5. My education doesn’t stop at the end of the workday—it continues because I genuinely want to grow, improve, and be the best at what I do. I care deeply about understanding the facts, separating them from myths, and constantly learning so I can show up as a trusted and knowledgeable professional.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I became a mom for two years putting my college dream on hold. I graduated college later then most because of this
