We recently connected with Britani Crosby and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Britani thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Part of me wishes I started sooner but then I don’t think I’d have as much knowledge and experience as I do now. I started grooming animals back in 2016 after my husband found an add looking for help at a grooming shop, I was already working as a veterinary technician, since graduating college in 2014.
Had a phone interview, went in to shadow and see what grooming dogs was all about. Then was trained on the job,and eventually left medicine to pursue pet grooming full time. My boss was great and helped me grow as a great pet groomer! Eventually expanding my skills and client list by grooming cats, and other pets, like bunnies and pockets pets alongside my K9 clientele.
After my third baby my mentor and I sat down and discussed possibly breaking off and starting my own business, weighing all the pros and cons. With my growing family the cons list was way smaller than the pros side. I couldnt think of a better time to start off on my own.
I don’t think I would change anything along the original timeline, if a started my business sooner i might have missed some of the lessons I learned along the way and wouldn’t be as well rounded as I am today in my work and what I confidently offer and showcase for animals.

Britani, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Britani Crosby and I own Bibbiti Bobbiti Groom out of New Prague Minnesota. At a young age I’ve always said I’m going to pursue a career with animals! Little did I know it would be pet grooming! June 1st of 2026 marks 10 years in this industry, time sure flies when you’re having fun, and working with animals every day, it’s never dull or boring. It’s not all puppies and kittens though either. Helping the senior dog, the disables cat or giving that new Great Dane puppy his first bath. It’s a lot of muscle power, but being able to offer all sorts of services keeps the business interesting and engaging.
I say I’m a pet groomer instead of dog groomer as I offer grooming services to cats and other creatures like bunnies, pocket pets and on occasion a horse here or there.
I think what really sets me apart from other groomers is my desire to be the best I can be! To try at new things, take a risk here or there. Besides stepping out of the box with cat grooming, I offer creative grooming as well, giving clients that option to really make their furry companions stand out with a new color or design. I’m still fairly new at this, but have great clients that believe in me, and help me be better at what I can do!
I am most proud to have my medical background and strive to continue my education with certifications. Having the knowledge I have has given me a better understanding of a pet’s need and their wellbeing. Knowing and prepared for any situation that may arise especially when grooming senior pets or pets with health issues.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I strongly believe that working where I did and having the great boss that I had really helped my business start off on a high note. I didn’t really have to start off empty handed when it came to clients. With the decision to start off on my own I was eventually allowed to let clients, (who I grew a relationship with over the past 8 years at the time) know where I was going.
I strongly believe my professional, likable personality helped pathe the way to welcome new clients and gaining their trust with their furry companions.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I’m not a big fan of social media, but honestly if I didn’t have my Facebook or Instagram account I’m not sure my clientele or social following would be very high. In this industry social media is the number one platform to showcase your skills, then word of mouth is gold, knowing a fellow client referred someone to you! That’s the golden ticket, that’s when you know what you’re doing is all worth while.
