We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bridget Baird. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bridget below.
Bridget, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
I love this question! The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me may seem small, but it meant the world to me. I was living alone in Seattle and developed a reaction to a prescribed drug called Humira. Rather than treating my Crohn’s Disease, which is what I was put on it for, it gave me a rare form of psoriasis. It started as a small rash on the bottoms of my feet but eventually spread throughout my entire body – the worst part being my scalp. I naturally have very thick hair, but this reaction caused me to not only lose that beautiful thick hair but also take my scalp with it. At its worst, if I raised my eyebrows, my scalp would crack and bleed down my face. It was truly a horror movie, especially for a 23-year-old woman. Beyond the physical problems I was facing, I was also very low mentally. I felt disgusting inside and out.
I was waiting for the train to take me home after work; I remember I had on a large headband to try and cover all my bald spots – I sat there waiting, keeping my head down and making myself as small as possible when suddenly a man came up to me, he bent down to catch my eyes and once they met, he looked at me with the most genuine kindness and simply said: “you’re beautiful.”
It was a moment I’ll never forget because I knew he saw me. He saw my sadness, he saw my pain, and even though it was two simple words, they were words I didn’t know I needed to hear. Those words filled me with so much love and made me feel less alone. So when I think of kindness, I think of that moment. I think of that man who has no idea how much those words impacted me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into meditation to help manage Crohn’s Disease. Little did I know I would end up making a career out of it! After years of meditating and experiencing the benefits, I became a Certified Master of Wisdom and Meditation Teacher through the davidji Academy of Meditation. Now, I serve as a bridge for others to connect with themselves. I believe that is the true purpose of meditation: to come face to face with yourself and finally get answers to those big questions like “Who am I?” and “What is my purpose?”
Of course, my clients also experience all the scientific and holistic benefits as well! For example, did you know that meditation actually shrinks your amygdala? That is the fear center in the brain, where anxiety and stress responses like fight, flight, or freeze come from. It also increases the size of your hippocampus – the memory center of our brain! Meditation also boosts our immune system by reducing blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, decreasing inflammation, and reducing stress and anxiety.
Besides teaching meditation and mindfulness, I am also a sound healing practitioner and energy healer. I offer individual services such as “Energy Cleansing and Alignment,” “Sound Healing Meditations,” “Crystal Healing,” or “Intuitive Readings,” but I also serve on a larger scale as a Mindset or Spiritual Coach which encompasses all of these practices while simultaneously assisting you to live a more peaceful, fulfilled, harmonious life that you can truly say you love.
One of my proudest accomplishments is working with children. I love helping young people discover mindfulness! It’s a gift to witness them become more confident, authentic, and aware.
For anyone interested in my work, I want you to know how impactful these practices have been on my life! It’s for this reason I was so passionate about making it a career. I truly believe that the world will know peace if we can all find it within ourselves first. My name is Bridget Baird, and my brand is called Bridge To The Youniverse. Get it? My name is Bridge(t), and I guide you to yourself – your Youniverse. It’s a little cheesy, but something I’ve learned is if it feels right, it’s right.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe the most helpful thing is to practice what I preach. Having my own meditation/spiritual practice and continuing to grow has helped me to expand my business. Who wants to learn meditation from someone who doesn’t meditate? Or who wants to learn how to cook from someone who only gets take-out? Clients want to see that they’re investing in someone who invests in themselves!

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I absolutely would! Before I started meditating, I was unhealthy, unhappy, and unfulfilled. This practice has completely transformed not only my personal life but my professional life as well! When I began feeling and seeing the benefits of meditation, I knew I wanted to share it with others. What I didn’t realize was how destined for this path I was. I truly feel like I am living my Dharma or life’s purpose by sharing this wisdom.
