We were lucky to catch up with Brian Zenmon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
How I came up with the idea is when I was kid. There was a local car wash by my house and I use to go there and ask customers do they need help washing their cars. From that I always fell in love with a clean car especially when it was nice car like bmw , jaguar , Range Rover etc. when I got older I realize that their wasn’t no mobile detailer atleast that’s what I thought when I got into the field of work. I wanted to be a mobile detailer cause i know people be busy sometime so I thought if I can come to you and detail your car while you continue to get things done on your time.

Brian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Brian Zenmon, and I’m from the city of Pittsburgh. I grew up in multiple neighborhoods around the city, which helped shape who I am today. I enjoy fishing — it’s one of the things I love most, along with playing basketball.
I went through a lot of adversity growing up, but what led me into this field was working at Carvana as a car detailer. That experience inspired me to turn my skills into a side hustle so I could better provide for my family.
I offer a full range of services — from exterior washes to deep interior cleans that make your vehicle feel brand new again. What sets me apart from other detailers is my passion. It’s not always about the money for me. Sometimes I provide free details simply because I care and understand that not everyone has the funds.
What I’m most proud of is building this business and not giving up, even during times when I wanted to. My journey, passion, and dedication drive everything I do.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was a time when my business was barely making money. I had the skills, the passion, and the work ethic — but not the steady clients. Some days I’d sit in my car waiting for bookings, wondering if I made the right choice leaving a steady job to chase something on my own. I had bills, a family to provide for, and plenty of reasons to quit.
One day, I detailed a car for someone that was a Steelers players at time , and I ended up doing it for free. They were so grateful that they told their friends and family about my work. That one act of kindness led to multiple referrals and consistent business. It reminded me that doing things with heart always comes back around.
Instead of giving up, I stayed consistent — posting my work, showing up on time, treating every car like it was my own, and trusting the process. That moment taught me that resilience isn’t just about surviving hard times — it’s about staying true to who you are while you push through them.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a point in my life when I had to make a serious pivot — not because I wanted to, but because I needed to.
I was working at Carvana detailing cars, and while it was steady work, I knew it wasn’t going to take me where I wanted to be long-term. I had a family to provide for, and I wanted something that gave me more control over my time, income, and future. Still, the idea of stepping out on my own was scary. Stability is hard to walk away from, especially when you’ve already faced so much adversity growing up.
The pivot came when I realized that the skill I was using for someone else’s business could become the foundation of my own. I started taking small jobs on the side — detailing friends’ cars, neighbors’ vehicles, and anyone who trusted me with their car. At first, it was slow. Some weeks I barely made anything. But instead of quitting, I doubled down.
That pivot taught me that sometimes growth doesn’t come from climbing higher — it comes from stepping out. I didn’t just change jobs; I changed how I saw myself. I stopped seeing myself as just a worker and started seeing myself as a business owner. That shift changed everything.
