We were lucky to catch up with Brenda Hernandez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brenda , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Brelleza was created to empower women through self care and boost self-love. I wanted to create a judgement free atmosphere where women can feel comfortable in their own skin while elevating their natural beauty.
Brenda , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Brenda, and I am the founder and owner of Brelleza. We are a brow and lash studio in Lakeland, FL. My passion for brows and lashes started back when I was a teen. I’ve always hated the fact that I had very thin brows and small eyes, that I became fascinated with anything that would make them bolder. This is when my love for brow and lashes began. As I got older, I knew this was more than just a hobby, it was my passion. I moved to Florida at the age of 23 to pursue my dreams and took my first training in permanent makeup in 2018. Then I enrolled in an esthetician school and graduated in 2019. Since then, my passion for brows and lashes has grown into what Brelleza is today. Brelleza was created to empower women through self-care, specializing in custom lash looks and brow services which include permanent makeup and skin care services. What sets me apart from others is my custom brow and lash work. Over the years I have taken the time to master each one of my services in order to provide trustworthy experiences.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
I created a business plan, set goals with deadlines, and most importantly saved every single dollar I could while building. Having a clear mission and holding yourself accountable really creates discipline in order to reach those goals.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
No one ever talks about the growing pains one has to endure to get where they want to be. There were many times I doubted myself and didn’t believe in my work, that I was ready to throw the towel in. Support from my partner and close family really helped me stay grounded. It takes true commitment, constant sacrifices and truly being confident in your passion to make it. Stay true to yourself and never let people who don’t see you vision stop you from becoming who you are meant to be. Embrace change in every form and always be kind to yourself. Everyone’s journey is different, embrace yours!
