Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to BreAnna Wiley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
BreAnna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I’ve experienced a few defining moments in my life. One of the most memorable ones was in 2017. I had been a full time entrepreneur for only a few months. But I was involved in an horrific car accident in which my car flipped multiple times and I thought life was over for me. Thankfully, I survived and did not sustain life threatening injuries. But that incident really made me appreciate life, my health, and understand that I had a purpose. I have always been passionate about health and wellness. And in that moment, it made me want to focus more and to even harder. I learned to never take life for granted, and two, to pursue my passion everyday that I have on this earth.
BreAnna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is BreAnna Wiley. I am the owner of GET FIT WIT BRE FITNESS (training business) & BREFITACTIVE (activewear brand). I am located in Houston, Texas but originally from West Memphis, Arkansas. I am currently in school pursuing my Doctorates in Public Health where I am focusing on childhood obesity and women’s health.. I have been a certified personal trainer & wellness coach for the past 7 years. My goal is to create interventions and programs for childhood obesity and women’s health disparities.
I offer personal training, small group training, online & virtual training, meal/nutritional guidance, strengthening & conditioning, as well as host bootcamps and events of that nature.
I also sell activewear for women and other fitness accessories like resistance bands, waist bands, and customer gym essentials.
My goals are to spread awareness about the importance of living and obtaining a healthy lifestyle, starting at the school-age level. My goal is also to get women, especially black women, more active and eating healthier.
I think what sets me apart is that I actually care about the people and my clients, I am passionate, and I am not just chasing money. I have invested lots of time, knowledge, and money into perfecting my craft and knowing as much as I can about the science of the body and one’s’ perspective about health risks.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Covid 19 happened I had to pivot my business. I had to shift from focusing on in-person training to online and virtual training. Believe it or not, that is when I gained the most clients. I went from about 20 online clients to 80+. Since then, I have stuck with the online and virtual aspect of training.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I started training in 2015. But I felt like I deserved more. So I packed up and moved to Texas… with no clients and only a few hundred dollars. Within a few months I was working, got my own place, and started to rebuild my clientele. Being an entrepreneur is extremely hard. Some months are great and some are slow. But what I can say is, whether I have 1 client or 50, I always keep a smile and provide the same quality service.
