We recently connected with Brandy Cook & Robert Burke and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brandy & Robert thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of our most meaningful projects was a very special Little Library. This project was brought to us by the Monarch Sister Schools member and fellow wolf mom Mary Ann Rishebarger. Mary Ann is a close family friend and also an owner of one of our pups from our first litter of Wolves.Dog. The project was to design and paint a Little Library for Cromwell Elementary School to culminate with the addition of a monarch butterfly garden. The butterfly pollinator garden and little library would serve to encourage students to learn about the habitat, life cycle and the amazing migration of the Monarch butterflies and also to read lots of books!
The Little Library was hand constructed and delivered to us by a charitable local organization, the Rotary Club of Towsontowne. As we began to visualize our design, we knew we had to put ourselves in the eyes of children and make the Little Library something that would peak interest and excite from far away.
The Little Library gave us a chance to challenge ourselves and enjoy using different techniques. We wanted to artistically represent all the different groups that brought this project together. We spoke many times with Mary Ann and were able to share ideas and complete each other’s vision to create something beautiful and educational.
We throughly enjoyed creating this unique Little Library and installation was received with open arms. The Little Library looked amazing cemented in its new home and it made us very proud to see how much the school kids appreciated it. We took great pride knowing the Little Library would be a permanent installation in front of Cromwell Valley Elementary. We hope it serves for endless years to come.
Brandy & Robert, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a creative couple of Brandy Lee & Robert Alex, and are represented by our resident canine mascots Miles, Mudd & Murph. We create everything from painting to puppies. We intimately invigorate our creations with our own experiences and environment. We are always creating. We continue to let our passion spill into new things and experiment with innovative ways to “grow” our multifaceted art business. We are currently working on an event space, Canvas Baltimore to bring more of our ideas to life.
It has been a journey taking the leap to go into business ourselves and an even greater challenge connecting our creativity into all parts of our life.
We built Wolves Art Collective as a home for our ideas with a combination of our interests and skills we have acquired over our lives. We simply want to create things and share them.
We started painting. We started creating. We wanted to get the children of our friends into art. And alas, Head Start Art Kits were born and perfected. Later we wanted to keep our furry family members looking as beautiful as nature intended. So we set out to create a deodorizing soap for our dogs with a lovely artisan friend and created a wonderful product and an awesome business relationship. Our mascots and pets have also contributed! Out first litter as breeders has grew into Wolves.Dog, a dog club and breeding business for our resident wolves, pack, and owners.
Throughout the seasons we have spread our creativity into everything we can get our hands on. We recently have experimented with art developed by artificial intelligence and also clothing and apparel. We hope to curate and release a few select pieces of Wolves Art Collective clothing next year. We know no bounds. Wolves Art Collective has become our own little growing group of our creative projects and we continue to dive into new things and products.
We are continually experimenting and creating and hope to for a very long time. You can keep up with our art and products at www.wolvesartcollective.com and our puppies and dog club at www.wolves.dog. Also, find and follow us on social media @wolvesartcollective & @wolves.dog.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Time. Time to create. Time to experiment. Time for each other. Time for life. Before we started Wolves Art Collective, we were somewhat satisfied with our respective fields and occupations. Satisfied, but not happy. The consensus was that the majority of our peers and us were unsatisfied, unfulfilled, and undervalued. We took a good look at the world and how we could fit. We planned, and took a chance with all our guts and dogs bundled in our arms and started “running” as fast as we could towards the life we decided on.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
To give back to the community of inspiration. We are heavily inspired by the worlds we live in, the experiences we have, and the people around us. Inspiring other people to take the risk of self fulfillment has been a gift that keeps on giving. Our network has become our net worth spurring a plethora of relationships and collaborative creative goals. We pride ourselves on keeping things intimate and pure to our creativity, and to have people recognize that is enthralling. To be looked up to, by people chasing their dreams as relentlessly as we are, is a feeling that has become one of the best parts of this journey.
