Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandee Adams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Brandee , thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I was born and raised in a small town in Utah, I had big dreams of leaving someday but never thought it was within reach. Once I graduated esthetics school my partner and I decided to take the leap and move to LA. I toured and interviewed with several studios and signed my apartment lease without seeing it in person. I knew I could only grow so much as a person and business owner in my hometown so if I wanted more, I had to change the way I did things, including where I lived. We filled a U-Haul with everything we owned and haven’t looked back. I am 10x the woman and business owner because of taking the risks I took. I now have my own private studio in Beverly Hills and every day truly feels like a dream.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Brandee! I’m a Cosmetic tatttoo artist specializing in microblading, Master Esthetician and Fine Line tattoo artist. I’ve been doing brows since 2016 and it actually came about because I got my brows done back in Utah where I’m from and became obsessed with the process. My brow girl started offering trainings. I took a loan out and crossed my fingers. Here we are now 7.5 years later. I’m able to give my clients a new level of confidence back by restoring their brows, it’s truly the most fulfilling job. I’m also able to connect with my fine line clients and create meaningful pieces that they will keep on their bodies forever. I am always creating a safe place at my studio and I feel the relationships, connection and trust from my clients has gotten me to where I am today. It’s all really special and I am really grateful for all the support I’m always receiving. I care a lot about my work and my clients experience. I am all about a natural approach to permanent makeup, most of my clients come to me for this specific natural & airy look i have built my brand around. I am so proud of my small business surviving the pandemic. I was unable to work for 10 months in LA and future of my business felt so rocky but I refused to give up. I take a lot of pride in my career, it’s truly a part of me so giving up just never felt like an option. Studio B is a community for anyone and everyone to be nothing but their perfect selves. Show up as you are, I’ll take care of the rest.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I would say Instagram & word of mouth/referrals is how I am reaching new clients. I always strive to create a great experience and product good work so my clients want to share with their family and friends.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
March 2020, I’m sure this is a common theme for a lot of small business owners. The whole world came tumbling down and I wasn’t able to work as I wasn’t considered an essential worker. I really had to think long and hard, get creative and pivot my business to survive. I realized I needed to be able to reach people outside of my studio; so I launched an. online training platform so I could still educate while bringing in some income. This was a huge eye opener for me, my business has to be more than just one on one in the studio. It needed to be bigger, reach more people. My online platform is still growing and it’s something I believe will evolve and grow my business as time moves forward.
