We recently connected with Benjamin Camras and have shared our conversation below.
Benjamin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The mission of my company and being is simple – to create more connection. The connections you’ll make flirting and. dating, the connections you’ll make romantically and platonically, and the connection you’ll make with yourself. Even though my mission is simple, it ends up being very complex because there are so many things that stand in the way of our ability to connect with others and with ourselves. There’s fear and uncertainty. There’s nerves and feeling of inadequacy. There’s our past experiences where maybe a connection didn’t go well or someone let you down. It seems like some people are naturally better at overcoming these obstacles or don’t have them in the first place, but making connections is difficult for most people for a variety of reasons, beyond these few. Ultimately I hope to help people put themselves out there to make connections, knowing this process is often a mirror for what’s going on in their inner world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I always knew I wanted to do something creative with my work, but I had no idea this pursuit would lead me to where I’m at now! I quit my 9-5 about three years ago to pursue a new adventure in coaching and start my own online business. It started with a few iterations and I have now focused for the past couple of years on helping daters in the early phases of dating (I say from the flirt to the point where you define the relationship) navigate this process that can come with a lot of questions, frustrations, and anxiety. I create a lot of content for social media, put out new episodes of my podcast Flirtations weekly, and offer a variety of coaching services, from 1:1 calls to a hotline to standalone courses and downloads. My work always comes back to the core focus of my mission, which is all about connection. I think what sets me apart is my personal approach and heartfelt advice that extends beyond the dating world and has been taken in by people all over the world, whether they are dating, in a relationship, or embracing the single life. I am also a yoga teacher and blend my teacher training and experience into what I do to create a mindful practice around creating connection that I think is very unique!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
You’re going to hear a lot of advice about growing an audience on social media. I think there are many ways to do it, which is why you’ll hear stories of success that can conflict one another and make the whole process sometimes confusing. Regardless of how you start or what your goals are, I think it’s important to know this won’t be easy or an overnight process. Very rarely does one video catapult someone into virality that is life changing. There’s usually a story or hard work and persistence behind the scenes. However, it can be so worth it and the hard work can actually transform people’s lives as you make connections all over the world with your communities and other creators. It’s really special. I ultimately built my communities by staying consistent and creating content that comes from the heart while being entertaining and educational at the same time. You have to create things that fulfill you first and foremost rather than creating to impress the algorithm or create what you think people want to see and watch. This approach will help to limit the comparison game that comes with this business.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I never give up when I truly put my mind to something. It’s hard to fully believe in your mission when other people don’t get it or don’t try and understand. Your hard work isn’t always recognized and some may question your progress or your ambitions when the results aren’t rolling in. This is all part of the process. I currently work three jobs across all days of the week, which wasn’t my plan when I first started. I do my coaching, content, and podcast every day, I teach yoga three times a week, and supplement my income by working at Trader Joe’s four days a week. I believe I’m following a passion and doing what I need to do to keep this dream going. Even though I ‘m not solely working on my business full time or seeing the results many business coaches promote, does that mean I should stop? Does that mean what I’m doing isn’t important? As long as you stay true to yourself, I believe good things come to those who are patient! I’m ok working as hard as I do because I believe in my mission fully.
