Hi B. , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I realized I wanted to pursue music when I was put in a group with two other classmates in elementary school and we had to sing the “Lift every voice and sing” for the school at various assemblies. The feel of everyone clapping when we were finished made me feel amazing.
B. , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started with neighbors in high school actually, I heard music being played and knocked on the door and they ended up sparking a friendship with my producer Robert Downs (IG: @iammrdowns). I was able to craft my songwritings skills to what they are today. Later on I met another producer named Antoine Franklin (IG: @toineonkeys) and with his musicianship helped me take my voice and how I structured songs to another level. I believe a team is always necessary and he introduced me to other writers Elijah Williams (IG: @vote4EWill) and Julian Wilcoxson (IG: @oljunemusic) which helped build me as an artist in the best way from vocal production to getting my voice better and learning new techniques. We as a team are currently trying to write and produce for artists and I feel we are probably the strongest musical team you could meet.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I knew about PRO’s (Performing Rights Organizations) earlier so I could have had my earlier music listed and monetized.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is not as complex as we make it but even with good content we still have to have some form of luck. As a creative I had to realize any content that grabs the peoples eye is good content. I made reels that include my music but along with being a artist I have a great sense of humor so putting those two together have helped a buzz on my social media accounts.
