We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Avivit Fisher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Avivit below.
Hi Avivit, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Back in 2015, the apartment building where I lived with my family burned down to the ground. We lost all of our possessions and our little Jack Russel, Cleo. Trying to cope, I found myself looking for a therapist.
Naturally, I started my search on Google. I typed “How to overcome a house fire”. What I found was a lot of information about insurance claims but virtually NOTHING on overcoming a house fire emotionally.
After going through dozens of websites I realized that there was a big gap between what people are searching for and how therapists present themselves and their services.
And that was my “Aha!” moment. I decided to help close this gap through what I do best, marketing.
My goal became helping therapists build thriving businesses by attracting the right clients.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I spent the first decade of my career in corporate marketing where I was doing art direction and branding. During that time I fell in love with the marketing strategy. After I had my first child, I decided to start my own brand consultancy so I could have a more flexible schedule. But soon after a house fire put a stop to my business.
As I was healing, I realized that I wanted to use my marketing skills to help people find mental health help easier.
I saw that many therapists who open a private practice don’t gain the skills they need in grad school to start a business and promote their services.
Ever since then, I decided to focus on working with therapy business owners. Right now, I coach and consult mental health providers on starting and growing private practice.
I teach them the marketing skills that help them attract new clients to their practices, create awareness about their services and build strong brands online and offline.
Since then, I helped my clients fill their caseloads and create sustainable businesses.
But I’m most proud of being a speaker at the Mental Health Marketing conference on the subject of creating a marketing message to people with trauma.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I understood early on that building a strong reputation will be the number one strategy within the mental health industry. Most of my competitors are a part of the field, former or present therapists. As someone who’s coming from the client side, I had a unique perspective and a point of view of what people are looking for when they search for therapy services.
But I also understood that my own niche values relationships and relies heavily on word-of-mouth referrals. And that insight led me to learn about therapists as much as possible. I wanted to understand their services, business struggles, and aspirations as intimately as possible.
I attended conferences that my niche attended, I offered free consultations just to be able to ask the questions I wanted to know answers to, listened to podcasts they listened to, etc.
I started to use the languages that they were using in all my marketing communication and build relationships.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I started building my audience, I was very focused on my niche. I had a clear goal of establishing my brand as an expert in mental health marketing. Because of that the accounts I followed, the conversations I had, and the things that I posted were all related to building a mental health practice. This focus on my goal and on my niche enabled me to slowly build a loyal following. I wasn’t chasing likes or numbers, I wanted quality following that would lead to leads and customers.
