Ava , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My hero is my mother. I often joke that she’s my unpaid employee because she speaks with me ten times a day, helping me troubleshoot at every level of my business. The belief that I could work for myself comes directly from her. When I was younger, we would create business ideas and concepts together, pretending to pitch and brand them. My fascination with being an entrepreneur started with those moments. Her influence has been pivotal in my journey, as she instilled in me the confidence and creativity needed to succeed in business. Her dedication and unwavering support have shaped not only my career but also the belief that anything is possible with the right mindset and effort.

Ava , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ava Vann. I got into the sunless tanning industry, like many others, by starting a mobile spray tanning business. It required very little initial investment and laid the stepping stone for me to begin bootstrapping my business for growth. Sunless Body Custom Spray Tanning is a UV-free airbrush tanning company that offers white-glove, custom services tailored to our clients. What sets us apart is our devotion to refraining from structuring our business model like cookie-cutter, big-box tanning companies, and our continued mission to educate clients about the dangers of UV tanning. I am most proud of our steady growth and want our clients to know that we pour our hearts into creating a safe and comfortable space while delivering unmatched service

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe what helped build our reputation within the market is our unwavering commitment to quality. We have an unwillingness to compromise on the ingredients we use, even when it might be more profitable to do so. Staying committed to the choosiness of our brand ensures that our clients receive the highest level of service and the safest, most effective products. This dedication to maintaining our standards has been key in earning the trust and loyalty of our clients

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been word of mouth. We still find that it’s our largest driver of new clients, which only confirms that our biggest return on investment is the carefully curated space and environment we’ve created, followed closely by the unparalleled service we provide. When clients have a great experience, they naturally share it with others, and that has been invaluable to our growth.
