Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Austin Pace. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Austin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think being authentic is the key to be successful. I hear a lot about a lot of different industries being “over-saturated.” Being in the photography industry I can definitely attest to the fact that there are tons of photographers to choose from, even in my local community! But that doesn’t mean we can’t all be successful. We all have our own voices, personalities, and views on life and we can express that through our art and through the way we conduct business. If we do everything as our authentic & true selves that translates to our customers and sets each of us apart from the other!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into photography 10 years ago when I graduated high school. My brother gifted me my first camera as a graduation present, and a family friend who was a photographer allowed me to shadow her at some of her jobs so that I could learn more!
The greatest learning experience I had from photography was attending a workshop hosted by Ross Oscar Knight in Atlanta, GA. Ross taught us so much about photography and the business side of it too and that was the real game changer for my business. Even all these years later I still refer back to my notes from his class, I’m also thankful to have him as a mentor that I can reach out too for encouragement and advice! I encourage beginner photographers to find a photographer whose work they admire and see if they offer any type of mentoring or workshops.
I specialize in portraits & wedding photography, primarily using natural light. I have a candid, photojournalistic approach that is all about capturing my clients authentic selves, and their special moments – minus any of the awkward, cheesy poses.
I am most proud of my ability to capture melanin skin in a beautiful light. All skin tones are beautiful and deserve to look their best and I love being able to keep my clients skin tones looking natural and at their best regardless of the scenario!
I want my potential clients to know that I am ready and willing to travel anywhere to capture their special moments. Yes I am based in Central Ohio but I do travel and would love to come to wherever you are to document your story <3
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I knew how resourceful YouTube could be! Yes, I’m a proud student of The YouTube University, ha!
There is so much free education on the internet that you should take advantage of and I have been able to learn and implement a lot from YouTube videos that have truly made an impact on my businesses success!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My greatest source of new clients has been from, believe it or not, Facebook! There are so many groups on Facebook full of people that could be your next client!
I joined a lot of local groups for my area and I’ve been able to share my own work and that I’m available for hire as well as interact with people who post that they are looking for photographers. This year Facebook became my #1 lead source for my business!
