We recently connected with Astrid Pizarro and have shared our conversation below.
Astrid, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One deeply underappreciated facet of being an entrepreneur or creative is the kind of crazy stuff that happens from time to time. It could be anything from a disgruntled client attacking an employee or waking up to find out a celebrity gave you a shoutout on TikTok – the sudden, unexpected hits (both positive and negative) make the profession both exhilarating and exhausting. Can you share one of your craziest stories?
While writing and doing interviews for BodySlam.net, I had the opportunity to apply to do media for WWE’s Royal Rumble show. During the application process, you never know whether you’ll get accepted or not until a few weeks before the show. I applied, began to plan as if I was going and hoping for the best. I kept refreshing my email because acceptance emails were being sent out and I couldn’t believe I had the opportunity to do it. First, WWE is the company I have been watching for years, the Rumble was about an hour away from me, I could drive there and check off an item from my wrestling media bucket list. I was nervous being alone but it came naturally to me while standing next to WWE superstars to ask them questions regarding the show and I was able to attend it as well, it was my first time attending the Royal Rumble and my first time doing media for a major show.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I began my journey in wrestling media by joining Love Wrestling CA (Canada), I began to cover wrestling PPVs and transitioned over to conducting interviews focusing on women’s wrestling. Sometime later, I became a part of BodySlam.net in which I write editorials whenever I am inspired and my interview series – Astrid Asks – is a part of as well.
I highlight women’s wrestling whether it’s in writing or through my interview series. I discuss their journey, how they got into wrestling, representation, their careers and accomplishments. As a female in a male dominated industry, I want to help women stand out, showing their talents, introducing them other fans as well and celebrate their accomplishments with them.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I hope to one day be a full time content creator including writing, interviews in wrestling media and my bookish posts too including vlogs, book spotlights, etc. i want to show that hard work pays off, to take advantage of opportunities you’re given and that representation matters.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My audience is a combination of various communities from wrestling media, to books to horror movies to being a Swiftie. i have been able to grow connections within these communities and friendships that are so meaningful to me. I love being able to chat with my friends about our shared interests and they celebrate my accomplishments too.
