We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Asia Cash a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Asia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
In August of 2022, I unexpectedly lost my job. I was out of work for four months and it allowed me time to rest and reignited my passion to become a content creator. So during that time, I studied other content creators, taught myself how to edit short form videos, purchased basic content creator tools and started to get comfortable being on camera. To me I am still in the beginning stages, but I’ve learned a lot about myself in the early stages. My perspective quickly shifted to trying to “go viral” and get a bunch of likes, to now just focusing on a sharing a couple of my niches and building community. While I now work a full-time job, I am learning that this journey is a slow and steady process. One day I will be able to live full time off of my creativity, but until thenI’m not in competition with anyone. The secret to my success is being consistent and being authentically me.

Asia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I recently re-branded to lifestyle and fashion content under the umbrella of Simply Asia B. I create content around my lifestyle, which includes things I am most passionate about like motherhood, fashion, family, health, wellness and juicing. I’ve built community by simply connecting with others who share similar interests and like to engage. My desire, and what I am most proud of is to stay true to myself. I am very intentional with how I post. I only share what I trust, what I truly believe in and what I am genuinely passionate about. I am walking in purpose so I try my best to walk my own path and don’t feed into trying to be anyone else. I also don’t let likes and views dictate my worth. If all of what I do only impacts or influences one person, then I’ve done something right.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The best advice I can give about growing is don’t think it will happen overnight. The best way to grow is organic. Your audience should be able to trust you. So being genuine is the best way. Also, it’s important to engage with your community. When people comment, comment back. When people DM, DM back. You want your content to be relatable and you should be reachable. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see a lot of likes, views and engagement in the beginning. Just keep pushing. The people who are supposed to see your work, your art, your creativity, and your content will see it. Just keep going.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission when I create is simple. It’s to inspire others to walk in their true God-ordained purpose. I am wife and a mom so I create so people, women especially, to know it’s possible to be multi-faceted and flourish in every area of our lives. I advocate for healthy balance. So my content is centered around keeping God first, living well, feeling great, looking good. The gifts and talents that God placed inside of us all are meant to be a solution. I create because I know things like the transparency of motherhood, diet and juicing and how it connects to fashion, looking and feeling your best needs to be shared so it will in turn help and motivate someone.
