We recently connected with Ashley Armstrong and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

Over 10 years ago, I fell in love with photography. Capturing memorable moments for my clients became a true passion for me. I started out by photographing couples and family but since then have taken a risk and expanded my services. Four years ago, I decided to take a big leap and expand into the world of Boudoir Photography. It was scary because I wasn’t sure what I was doing or if I would succeed at first but after that first event, I knew I was never going to look back! I fell in love with having the ability to empower women and promoting body positivity for everyBODY! Seeing these women come in nervous to embark on this amazing self love journey and then by the end, they are leaving with loads of self confidence and loving their bodies as they are! PLUS they have these images of themselves to look back on for years to come.

Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am a photographer based in the Saint Louis, MO area who loves to be able to capture memorable moments for my clients! My passion for photography started back in high school and has grown ever since. I focus more on my candid shots. I love those unscripted moments, where someone is relaxed and just being themselves. This is when you see a person’s true beauty. Providing lasting memories for my clients is what drives me. We strive to pinpoint each clients vision and capture just that, providing images to cherish for years to come.

We offer a variety of services that include (but not limited to) Family, Senior Portraits, Engagement/Couple Sessions, Maternity, Boudoir, Weddings and Photo Booth Rentals!

We have TWO interactive open-air photo booths that will you take your event to the next level. Our booths bring out the smiles, laughter and allows your wedding guest to leave with lasting memories from a fun filled night.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

I would say that word of mouth has been a huge business grower for me. When my clients are satisfied with their experience with me and the lasting memories I have captured for them, the biggest compliment they can give is to leave a review and let others know about Coco’s Lens Photography. Steering their families, friends and co-workers towards us has been the best source of new clientele. Plus, we LOVE meeting new people and growing our Coco’s Lens and Coco Boudoir Family!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

I would say the most rewarding part of my job is seeing the joy on my clients faces not only while we are shooting but as they are getting a glimpse of their images throughout our shoot. (Sometimes I can’t help but show them an amazing shot that was just captured in the middle of our shoot). Furthermore, receiving an email response from my clients after I have sent them over their online gallery makes my day every time! I love receiving these emails of them gushing about how amazing and how happy they are with their photos. Or from my boudoir clients being amazed that the photos they have received were them and how confident they felt leaving their shoot and are now seeing their photos.
