We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashleigh Worthington. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashleigh below.
Ashleigh , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
It started from frustration. I was watching a lot of food content and kept seeing the same thing—big chains, viral items, and overhyped spots. Very few people were consistently highlighting local restaurants, and almost no one was talking about value—whether the food was actually worth the money.
As a chef, that stood out to me. I naturally look at food differently, not just in terms of taste, but quality, cost, and overall value. At the same time, I’d see incredible local spots with real culture and great food that just weren’t getting any visibility.
That’s where the idea came from.
I realized there was a gap between what people were being shown and what actually existed in their communities. So I built something that focuses on highlighting local businesses while giving honest, informed perspectives on both quality and value.
It made sense emotionally because it felt meaningful, and logically because there was a clear opportunity in a space that was being overlooked.

Ashleigh , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a chef and the creator behind The Peculiar Chef, a platform focused on highlighting local restaurants that often don’t get the attention they deserve.
I got into this space by combining my culinary background with a clear gap I saw in food content. Most coverage focused on big chains or viral spots, while local businesses—and the question of whether food is actually worth the money—were often overlooked.
My work blends food reviews, storytelling, and creative marketing. I create content that not only helps audiences discover great local spots, but also helps small businesses gain visibility in an authentic way.
What sets me apart is my perspective as a chef and my honesty. I focus on both quality and value, giving people a more informed take on where to spend their money.
What I’m most proud of is being able to drive real impact for local businesses. At its core, my brand is about authenticity, trust, and putting a spotlight on places that truly deserve it.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is creating real impact—especially helping local businesses get the visibility they deserve.
It’s one thing to make content, but it’s different when your work actually drives people to support a restaurant or discover a place they wouldn’t have found otherwise. That’s when it feels meaningful.
I also value being able to stay authentic while growing—building something based on my own perspective, not just trends. Overall, it’s about using creativity to make a real difference while staying true to what I do.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal isn’t just to build a large audience—even though growth is naturally part of the journey. The real mission is to shine a light on local businesses that often get overlooked.
I want to use my platform to help people discover great spots in their own communities while also giving those businesses the visibility they deserve. It’s about creating real impact—connecting people to quality food, supporting local owners, and bringing more attention to places that might not have the marketing reach to do it themselves.
If the audience grows along the way, that just means the impact grows too.
