We were lucky to catch up with Arubianna Mobley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Arubianna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I feel like this is the most important part of anyone’s story. How you were raised is honestly one of the main key factors of your self identity. Growing up, my father wasn’t much apart of my life. In fact, I didn’t really get to have a bond with him until I was about 16. All of that time I spent not having that father figure, I spent growing closer and closer to my mom. I never had the chance to process my relationship with my father and how it affected me. I was so focused on my mother. She played both roles of a mother and a father better than most. She taught me my independence, my honesty, loyalty, and how to be a women in this crazy world we live in. To be honest she was the main reason I do what I do. Without her, there would be no me. She raised me right. She raised me smart and resilient. She raised me to be someone important. She never lied to me, she kept me up on game on every scene, and she was taught me everything she wished she had known. She built a strong character in my story. I never really understood just how much of an influence she was to me until I went to college. You see when it was time for me to figure out my own identity away from my parents and my environment, I was and still am so very lost. However, she gave me the tools I needed to figure it out. I struggle a lot with daddy issues, anger problems, and among other things but if she did not raised me the way she did. I can’t say I would be this close to healing those issues as I am now. As for my father, he definitely did his best to make up for lost time. The strongest thing he has ever done for me was try and support me with whatever it was I wanted to do. I want a motorcycle “sure, do your research and take those classes”. I want to move to Vegas and start my Real Estate firm, “I’m not 100 percent behind it but, lets figure this out together and plan the right moves.” There’s a lot of things I wish I could fix with myself that our past relationship has caused but at least I can move forward with the relationship we created. Yet, it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t mention my Step dad who has treated me like a princess from the moment he stepped into my life. He made sure I was secured with anything I wanted and needed. He also put that fatherly hat on whenever I needed it even when I didn’t know that I needed it. One thing I can say is that they all collectively taught me to be me. Taught me to not be afraid of the world. They gave me the biggest secret in life and thats to jump into life with a big heart, a strong mind, and an unbreakable will.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who don’t know me, my name is Arubianna Mobley. I was born and raised in Bradenton Florida. I moved to Atlanta when I was about 9 years old and from there I created my first business in the clothing industry. I was only 16 at the time and before you knew it I founded another company for graphic design. Both were sold upon my acceptance at the University of Kentucky. At the time I was majoring in Architecture but as I am now in my second year of college I find myself studying Business Finance. My dream is to create a company like never before. I want to specialize in all fields of real estate. Hence as why i change my major. I do have plans to go back to school and get a second degree in architecture as well. As of now, I have create a side hustle for myself that is of course graphic design. I mean why quit something your good at. However, the more import organization I created and something worth mentioning is called TruWealth. This is a project very dear to me because it was created to be a tool that many people especially African American people don’t get the luxury of using. TruWealth is an organization that helps you find yourself identity, how to achieve your career and life goals, and how to achieve generational wealth. It’s not about just breaking that family cycle or making good money for yourself. We are teaching how to band together as a community and educate, support, and network each other to create wealth for generations to come. We want to educate beyond just the money and help others discover what it means to be successful in life. We want to create a space where it isn’t so far fetch to want to be someone in life. We all know the system we live upon is hard. However, it doesn’t have to be. With TruWealth and the community its building will allow certain pathways to be easier. We are teaching how to work the system and not to let the system work you.
Have you ever had to pivot?
There has been quite a few if I’m being 100 percent honest. However, the one time that taught me the most is the one I am currently still dealing with. You see I struggled figuring out how to separate what my family expected of me and what I expected for myself. I did everything they ever asked me to do. However, their ultimate goal was to get me into college and set up my career. Well. I reached college and was setting up my next moves in life. Then I thought what now? I made it to college but what now? Is this it for me? Am I suppose to just work a corporate job or settle being a realtor.? What do I want for myself? And that question I could not answer because I didn’t know myself. I focused my entire child hood and beginning adult life to making my family proud. Realistically the only goal was to make as much money as possible and set them up in a nice big house somewhere. Then it hit me. My mom already has a nice big house. My family already lives a happy comfortable life. So what now? What do I want for me? So, I had to rethink everything i thought i knew and planned. I had to completely start over. I changed my major, moved out into my own apartment and started just living life. I had no plan. I fumbled and made plenty mistakes. I learned some very hard lessons, and now I am cleaning them up. In the process, I figured out what I wanted for myself and now I am making the plan to achieve it. Nothing is complete set and stone but there is a steady path that I can take. I have not a clue of what I a doing or where I am going to end up. The only thing I am sure about is that I am happy, I am at peace, and I am now doing it for me.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The most important factor of funding your business is to take calculated risk. For example, I am a college student with little to know credit history. I make a little less than $30,000 a year. I have to be smart with my money, time, and credit. So, to fund my business with out disturbing my budget for my everyday life, I started DoorDashing. I would average about $100 a day. That money made would go straight into my saving and stocks. Overtime it grew and grew. Now, I am taking that money to invest into my first real estate property. The plan is to buy the house, live in it to minimize cost and fix it up. Once its ready I will move someone into it and create passive income. That income will help fund my next house. As for my side hustle, I chose graphic design because the only equipment I needed was my computer in which I already had. I was creating income just by using my time. That side hustle grew into a business that help with career and life savings. As of right now Real Estate is the ultimate goal. So, I direct that extra money I am making from DoorDash and Graphic Design into my main goal.
