We were lucky to catch up with Arnisha Gaither recently and have shared our conversation below.
Arnisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I got my first client from a Facebook Group! I saw where a bride had posted that she was in search of a coordinator after her first one was no longer available. She explained that she was on a tight budget and she was less than a month away from her wedding. I immediately commented that I was available (as I had a fully open calendar haha) and sent her a message on Facebook. She was so excited that I reached out, we discussed details and within an hour she paid her deposit and I booked my very first client. At the time I was on top of the world!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Arnisha Gaither Events was created after I fell in love with the planning process from planning my own wedding. A.G.E. is now a successful wedding & event planning and coordination company based out of NC that offers wedding packages such as: Wedding Management, Partial Planning, Full Planning & Design and we also plan other events such as: bridal/couple showers, birthday parties, family reunions, gender reveals, etc. At A.G.E. our main priority is our clients. We help people plan remarkable events through growth, guidance, and understanding. This means that we will grow with you throughout the planning process, we will offer guidance when needed to make the planning process less stressful, and we will listen and understand your needs to ensure that your event is one-of-a-kind!
Have you ever had to pivot?
PIVOTT!! – Anyone else watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. or just me? haha
I have had to pivot a-lot on wedding days since being in this industry. Once the day of timeline is created I try my best to stick to it but sometimes things happen and have to be moved around last minute. The main thing to remember in those moments are to just flow with it. If a couple were to see their coordinator stressing then they would immediately know that something is wrong. I have had vendors arrive late, vendors not show, dresses need to be sewed, and loads of other things happen but I NEVER let my couples know. I pivot and move things around the timeline as needed and go on with the day. Thankfully as a planner I have filler room in my timeline so that if things do pop up, it’s easy to get back on track without loosing a-lot of time.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media audience by simply showing up. I have started this thing on my Instagram account where I post something on my story every weekday. This gets my followers interactive with me which I love. As far as advice for those starting, don’t compare yourself to others! It’s easy to look at others accounts and compare your follower number to theirs but the amount of followers you have on social media doesn’t define your business.
