We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Armund Wilson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am passionate about leadership, service, and making a positive impact on the next generation. My journey began with a desire to improve my school community, Washington- Marion Magnet High School and lead others with faith and purpose. Through my experiences with my peers, community and various clubs through my leadership roles, I realized the importance of fostering environments where people feel supported, empowered, and inspired.
The work I do focuses on building stronger foundations for future generations through innovative leadership and serving others, all while integrating faith into the process. My goal is to inspire others to reach their full potential, lead with purpose, and grow in their faith journey. Whether it’s through leadership guidance, community improvement initiatives, or personal development, I help others realize the power of their influence and the positive change they can bring.
What sets me apart is my commitment to both personal and spiritual growth. I strive not only to lead but to guide others to Christ, helping them find deeper meaning and fulfillment in their lives. I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to influence and support those around me, even when I didn’t feel supported in return. It has reinforced my belief that true leadership is about perseverance, resilience, and serving others regardless of circumstances.
Ultimately, I want people to know that my work is about more than leadership—it’s about making a lasting difference, both in the world and in people’s lives. I aim to create a legacy of strong, faith-driven leaders who will continue to impact their communities for years to come.
One of my biggest achievements along side my team when we turned our class participation from 40% to 100% in over one full academic year. That truly was remarkable for the team that was always willing to go. Special thanks to my friend and helpmate, Robyn Young. She has always encouraged me even when I was discouraged along the process, she was there and that is how we made change. It wasn’t always easy but it’s been worth it in the end and we’re striving for even more goals for our class this year.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey of authenticity, consistency, and intentional engagement. I started by sharing content that aligned with my mission—leadership, faith, and community building—while making sure to be relatable and genuine in my posts. By focusing on topics that resonate with people looking for guidance, purpose, or inspiration, I’ve been able to connect with an audience that shares similar values and aspirations.
I also made sure to actively engage with my followers, responding to comments, asking questions, and even collaborating with others in similar fields to reach a broader audience. It’s about creating a community, not just a following. Consistency in posting, maintaining a positive tone, and providing value in each post has helped my audience grow over time.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be:
1. **Be Authentic**: Share content that reflects who you truly are and what you stand for. People connect with authenticity.
2. **Consistency is Key**: Post regularly to keep your audience engaged. It doesn’t have to be daily, but your presence should be steady.
3. **Engage with Your Audience**: Respond to comments and messages, show appreciation for your followers, and build relationships. Social media is about connection.
4. **Provide Value**: Think about what your audience needs—whether it’s inspiration, education, or entertainment. Offer content that serves them.
5. **Be Patient**: Building an audience takes time. Focus on the quality of your connections rather than just the quantity of followers.
Social media is a powerful tool, but the key is to remain true to your message and the value you want to bring to others.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that stands out in my journey, which illustrates my resilience, is tied to my involvement in student leadership. There was a time when I felt completely unsupported. I was trying to push forward initiatives that I believed would improve our school community, but I constantly faced resistance, lack of engagement, and at times, outright dismissal of my ideas.
It would have been easy to step back or walk away, but I stayed committed to my mission. I knew that the changes I was advocating for were important, not just for me, but for the future students who would benefit. Despite the challenges, I kept pushing forward—finding alternative ways to gather support, refining my ideas, and working tirelessly to show others why these initiatives mattered.
That period was difficult, but it taught me an important lesson: leadership isn’t always about immediate success, and sometimes the impact of your efforts isn’t seen right away. True resilience is about continuing to show up, even when you don’t feel supported, because you believe in the bigger picture. Through that experience, I grew as a leader and learned that perseverance often leads to progress, even if it’s not in the ways you initially expected.
