Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ariel Johnson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ariel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

To be successful, I believe it takes determination, sacrifice, and a dream! Years ago when I was in cosmetology school, we had a guest speaker come in and talk my class about the beauty industries ups and downs, as well as its daily practices and in that moment I was motivated to become every role in a salon setting to know what obstacles and successes each title faces so when I become an owner I’ll know how it feels to be in everyone’s shoes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Ariel Johnson better known as Ari to most of my clients. I was introduced into the hair industry by simply just having the love of fixing people hair at an early age. Ever since I was in middle school— before me and my friends would go hang out, I would always say “wait let me fix your hair!” and once I got to high school I started taking on clients. I am now the owner of a luxury hair extensions company called Officially Xclusive that provides raw Indian hair extensions in all lengths and textures. My goal is to help women feel their best by being a trusted hair care provider who educates, inspires, and empowers them on a daily basis. As well as prioritize on affordability in today’s market. I am most proud of the reaction on a client’s face when I turn them around to the mirror after I’m done their hair, the feedback they give me on daily basis to help me expand my business as well as the relationships we’ve built throughout the years. I want people to know that Officially Xclusive is not just a lifestyle but a mindset. We are a close-knit community of women who believe it’s our mission to break down beauty barriers and create luxury experiences for all.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

A time when I had to pivot in my business is when multiple clients were requesting services that I didn’t provide. So I took it upon myself to research the styles they were interested in, ask other stylist who already provided the service for professional advice on the best way to achieve the looks as well as pricing points and lastly took classes to perfect my craft more in where I fell short.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I believe my customer service help build my reputation because I always aim to please. The goal is to have everyone leave with a pleasurable experience, whether it’s a hair service or purchase!
