Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Apex Group | Illustrated Properties Cynthia Mondeaux and Christine Ortiz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Apex Group | Illustrated Properties , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Legacy: what do I think my legacy will be?
This is a question that is close to my heart since I have always talked about creating a legacy to leave behind. I believe that everyone has a gift… and I also believe that we all should find something that we are passionate about and give back to that demographics. The challenge is, to find out what your gift is and then follow through with it.
I’d like to think of myself as being a very good mother, and my first legacy has been to raise my children the best way possible so they could always be honest, compassionate, trustworthy humans who’s virtues are of great integrity! That itself is a legacy because I know they will do the same for their own children and so on. Building up a family legacy that keeps giving back for generations to come.
The second legacy is through my professional life! Back in the days I used to work in advertising, I started as a make up artist and ended up as a photo shoot coordinator. I worked with famous people, models, actors, musicians, and took my career to the top level that I wanted to take. However, at the same time, I was working hard on ministries, one of them being a prison ministry working with the families (specially the children) of someone who was incarcerated. I was helping the children build their lives and create a better future for themselves. This, I believe is something that I made a difference and created a legacy in their lives. Hopefully those children today have become adults who posse the same integrity, honesty, trustworthiness and compassion that I was able to insert into my own children’s lives.
All that brings me to today…. since my children are grown, I moved on to the next Legacy. A mission and legacy as a wife to a husband who served for 27 years in the Army! Together we have gone trough long deployments, moving around, making new friends, and helped other Military families. In fact, while we were in Fort Campbell, we were appointed as leaders of a Military Ministry in our church. We feel that serving the Military Community is not only an honor, but also our duty! As a REALTOR® I have been giving back to the Military community not only with my time, but also financially. Each time I work with someone who **served or still serves, I give a percentage of my own commission to help with closing costs. My goal is help the Military families, while educating the community about the different aspects the Military life brings to a family. We all make sacrifices! My husband and I went though an entire very long year deployment that brought him home to be medically retired by the Army! A year that he was not home for dinner, or to celebrate our birthdays, holidays and special occasions. These are some of the things that we do not think about on a daily basis, but as a Military family, we do not have a choice when an “order for a mission” arrives unexpectedly and we all have to make sacrifices to accommodate these orders. So let’s stand together and serve back to the ones who have given us so much!
Serving a Military family is not only an honor but our duty as a community! I hope that this can be a legacy that will follow me for the generations to come in my family, my friends, and hopefully the community around me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Some say that about 90% of Real Estate agents will fail during the first 2 years of their career and then move on to something else. My first year as a REALTOR® I closed about $3.5 million in Real Estate. I was a Silver Award Recipient, Rookie of the Year and a Relocation Award recipient through Military On the Move. So what was the secret to my success? I believe that everyone is called to “Find something they are passionate about to then give back to that cause! It not only helps the cause, but it gives a different meaning a career!” My passion is on the Military Community as I previously stated and with that, I am growing my business, bringing a partner in and creating a new brand to my business.
I am very excited to be launching Apex Group under Illustrated Properties in West Palm Beach and cannot wait to see where the journey will take us. Within the group, we are trained experts on Military On the Move, Military Relocation Professional, Florida’s HometownHeroes and Down Payment Assistant Programs. We have taken all the necessary training and classes to better serve our community! However, although we specializes in the Military and Veteran’s community, we serve clients from all walks of life. Including first time home buyers to seasoned buyers / sellers, investors and those in the commercial sector.
Whether a buyer or seller, residential or commercial; in the end, our main goal is to match a perfect property with a perfect new owner!
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
Ahhh…. what can I say about this one! As of this year 2022, I decided to bring a partner into my Real Estate business, and I cannot see anyone else more fit for this role than my daughter Christine. She is not only gorgeous both inside and out, but she is also one of the most intelligent and witty human I have ever met!
When Chris was in high school, her principal called me and asked me if I was ok with her graduating a year earlier. As a mom, I was very proud, but my answer at the time was no, she needed to finish another year even if it meant that she only had to take some fun classes. She was already one of the youngest ones in her class and I did not see the need for her to start college at 16 years old. Bragging a little more about her, I have to say that when we made a decision to move from Boston to Florida, she was accepted at Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a senior in High School. For those who applied to this school, they know how hard it is to get in as a Freshman, and as a senior, it is almost impossible! With this, she worked on a short movie and received an award at Carnegie Hall!
Prior to graduating college, Christine did an internship at Zimmerman Advertising agency in Fort Lauderdale, which lead to them offering a full time job and a 10 year career! Starting as a traffic coordinator and ending as a senior art director. So yes, I am a super proud parent! However, it is Christine’s character and sweet demeanor that captivates us all.
With her expertise in marketing, design and creativity, we are now the APEX Group! Serving Military, Veterans and Beyond!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The Success of my business is based mostly on word of mouth and returned clients! My reputation is something I have always valued and as I mentioned previously, my legacy revolves around core values of Integrity, Trust, Honesty, Loyalty!
Treat others with the respect they should be treated with, give them your attention and support…. and mostly, listen to what my clients want. Understanding that everyone’s needs are different is one of the first step in achieving success in Real Estate.
Let the retuned clients and referrals speak for themselves.
