We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antwan Jordan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Antwan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Hello everyone! It’s so great to be interviewing again with you all! I’m so excited to share so many new updates! So the most meaningful project I’ve worked on has to be the new EP I am currently working on! This new one will be entitled “Will 2 Win” and features many great songs and artists that I consider family.
Antwan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So once again my name is Antwan J. Jordan and I am an Independent Gospel Recording Artist. I started singing when I was young. I come from a family of singers and preachers, so singing and playing music was always in me. So I became an artist back in 2011 and have been going since then. I am one of the Worship Leaders at my church and I just love to write/produce/and sing and play music. So getting into ministry and being an Independent artist is a lot of work! So it’s a lot of out-of-pocket expenses! So to anyone that is thinking about becoming an artist, the first thing I want to tell you to do is to pray! When I started in the ministry I wasn’t trying to at all. God placed it in my heart with songs that I had been writing to find a producer and start recording. So being obedient, I did just that. I can truly say it has been a blessing! Big shout out to my producer Ricko Clark and Jazzi Musiq Productions, LLC for being there with me every step of the way. The thing my followers know is they can always expect to get some encouragement out of me. In these times we as people are going through so much and so when I write I think about what’s going on in the world, and in our personal lives and I pray to God to give me the right thing to minister to his people along with what in the word of God and you always want to make sure the song ministers to you before it ministers to someone else. Right now I am working on my New EP as I stated earlier and it’s entitled “Will 2 Win”. So with that, we have a campaign going on to raise the funds to get this project done as well as a Big release Concert in March of 2023! So its all in the plan and the vision!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing that someone received the message behind the song. A lot of times we can just throw something together and it has no meaning behind it, but one thing I have learned is to take your time and quality is better than quantity. Make sure everything makes sense and that everything happens in God’s timing. Another thing is the encouragement to keep going and not give up on your calling!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, I have particular goals and a mission. My mission is to always share the word of Christ with believers and non-believers through music. In our generation today we have to have strategies to reach our people and through music, I believe we can do that. My goal has always been to make sure when I write how it relates to me, and how can it relate to others that may be going through the same trials and tribulations I’m going through. Once you realize that you’re able to minister to the world. So pray and ask God what mission he wants you to take in reaching his people!
