We were lucky to catch up with Anthony Tate recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony , appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I’ve truly lived a BEASTLIFE! It’s been a journey filled with ups and downs—lessons learned, heartbreak, and pain, but also perseverance, accomplishments, and a deep sense of gratitude.
I’ve been fortunate to overcome significant challenges, including incarceration, struggles with drug and alcohol abuse, and the heartache that often comes with poor choices. Those tough times taught me one crucial thing: if I wanted to achieve anything meaningful, I had to BEASTUP!
If you’re on a similar journey in the BeastLife, you understand that the easiest route often leads to harder consequences. It’s about learning to adapt and adjust when life gets tough. In the world of the BeastLife, there are no failures—only lessons that help you grow. You embrace the mindset that “if it’s to be, it’s up to me.”
These principles aren’t just important for life; they’re vital for reaching your fitness goals, too. It’s about embracing the uncomfortable moments, celebrating every win, and committing to the journey until the job is done—no matter how challenging that journey may be.
That’s why I named my company The BeastLife Fitness. I always encourage my clients to BEASTUP! Together, let’s tackle the challenges, celebrate the victories, and make every step of this journey count. Your story is powerful, and I can’t wait to see where it takes you!

Anthony , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m excited to share my fitness journey! I started working out at 9 years old at a local YMCA, thanks to my Uncle B and Cousin T. Growing up, I played multiple sports, including college football, which kept me in Peak Condition at All times. Even during tough times, like incarceration, I found solace in daily workouts that helped me work through the most adverse time in my life; and laid the foundation for my not only my fitness career, but my Safe Space and “Purging” tool throughout life.
How I got in the Fitness Industry:
In 2006, I began as a Membership Sales Associate and quickly advanced to General Manager, helping thousands in the DFW metroplex transform their lives through fitness. About 11 years ago, I took the leap to start my own journey, dedicating myself to changing lives across the country.
One of my proudest achievements is my eBook, **BEASTUP! A 30 Day Guide To Transforming Your Body**, powered by my T.A.T.E.S. Method, which you can find here:

The T.A.T.E.S. Method stands for:
– **T**ime

– **T**ension
– **E**ndurance
– **S**trength
It’s a comprehensive 30-day workout and meal plan to help you burn fat and build muscle, with everything laid out on a simple calendar for easy use at the gym or home.

What sets me apart is my personal experience and commitment to helping others succeed. I understand the struggles of the fitness journey because I’ve lived them. With the right mindset and support, transformation is possible. Let’s embrace the challenges together and BEASTUP!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the notion that my fitness business was all about how much money I could make. This mindset shifted when my mentor and dear friend, Terry Watson, introduced me to the concept of “1 Million Serviced.”
When I first began my self-employed journey, I was focused on financial success. I thought that was the ultimate goal. However, everything changed when I had the chance to use my program—formerly known as The FitLife Initiative, now called The BeastLife Initiative—to teach middle schoolers how to promote wellness within their families and communities.
This experience opened my eyes to the real impact I could have. It wasn’t just about me or the money; it was about reaching and uplifting others. The mission became clear: it’s about serving “1 Million” people, helping them learn how to eat well and exercise for better health. That realization transformed not only my approach to business but also my purpose in life. Now, I’m driven by the idea that true success lies in the positive change I can bring to others, not just my bottom line.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I’ve experienced several pivotal moments in my life, but a few stand out as truly transformative. The first was during and after my time in incarceration, when I had to pivot from a life of confinement to one of freedom and opportunity. It was a significant shift that forced me to reassess my values and goals.
As my fitness career evolved, I reached a point where I realized I had hit a ceiling in my growth. That’s when I decided to pivot to becoming a self-employed personal trainer, specializing in golf fitness and body recomposition. It was a leap of faith that allowed me to carve out my own path and focus on areas I was passionate about.
Then came the pandemic—a challenge we all faced. When in-person training became impossible, I found it hard not to connect with my clients face-to-face. But just like in those earlier moments, I knew I had to step out of my comfort zone again. I pivoted to virtual training and embraced technology, getting in front of the camera to continue serving my clients and making a living.
Each of these pivots taught me resilience and adaptability. They reminded me that sometimes, the best growth happens when we’re willing to embrace change and take risks.
