We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anthony Dixon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anthony below.
Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
My passion for cooking was born in my mother’s kitchen. That’s where I first learned that food is more than just something you eat—it’s how you bring people together, celebrate life, and create memories that last forever.
But the actual business? That didn’t start with a perfect plan—it started with a moment.
I remember laying in bed one night. I had to be up early the next morning for my job as an Outreach Coordinator at a local health center, working closely with the homeless community. Life was stable, but something in me felt like there was more. Then out of nowhere, I felt a push—clear as day: *buy webspace for a catering business.*
No name. No logo. No business plan. Just obedience.
So I did it.
The very next step was figuring it out as I went. I had to come up with a name—*Seasons Classic Catering*—because it represented versatility, comfort, and timeless food across all occasions. Then I started researching everything: how to legally form a business, permits, pricing, food costs, and what it really meant to serve people at a high level.
Those early days were a mix of excitement and uncertainty. I was working my full-time job during the day and building the business at night—testing recipes, serving small events, reinvesting every dollar I made back into equipment and growth.
I didn’t have everything figured out—but I had faith, consistency, and a standard.
Over time, one event turned into another. One satisfied client turned into referrals. I learned how to create menus, structure pricing, build systems, and most importantly—deliver an experience, not just food.
By 2014, what started as a leap of faith became real.
Seasons Classic Catering was officially born.
And looking back, it wasn’t about having all the answers in the beginning—it was about taking that first step, trusting God, and building something meaningful one plate, one client, and one opportunity at a time.
**It’s Just Different.**

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Anthony Dixon Sr., and I am the owner and creative force behind Seasons Classic Catering Services, LLC. At my core, I’m a chef, entrepreneur, storyteller, and servant of people. My journey into this industry began long before I ever launched a business—it started in my mother’s kitchen. That is where I first learned that food is never just food. It is comfort. It is culture. It is celebration. It is healing. It is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together and make people feel seen, cared for, and connected.
That early foundation stayed with me throughout my life. Even before I officially became a business owner, I always understood the emotional power of a good meal and genuine hospitality. In 2014, that passion turned into purpose when I launched Seasons Classic Catering. What started as a leap of faith has grown into a respected brand built on quality, consistency, creativity, and heart.
What I do goes far beyond simply preparing food. Through Seasons Classic Catering, we provide full-service catering for weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, nonprofit galas, school functions, community celebrations, private dinners, brunches, receptions, and much more. Our services can include buffet service, plated meals, appetizer receptions, specialty stations, staffing, setup, and a customized client experience from start to finish. We create menus that range from elevated comfort food and Southern-inspired classics to polished brunch offerings, hors d’oeuvres, upscale event cuisine, and custom menus designed specifically around a client’s vision, taste, and budget.
What really sets us apart is that we do not treat catering as just dropping off food. We create experiences. We understand that for most clients, the event they are planning matters deeply. It may be a wedding, a memorial, a scholarship brunch, a milestone birthday, a corporate celebration, or a fundraiser that represents years of hard work. They are not simply hiring someone to cook. They are trusting someone to help carry the atmosphere, energy, and memory of the day. That is a responsibility I take very seriously.
The problem we solve for clients is peace of mind. We help remove the stress, uncertainty, and inconsistency that often come with event planning. Our clients need to know the food will be excellent, the presentation will be polished, the service will be professional, and the experience will reflect well on them. We solve that by being intentional, responsive, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence. We help people feel confident that one of the most important parts of their event is in good hands.
Another thing that makes our brand different is authenticity. Seasons Classic Catering is not a brand built on trends alone. It is built on real relationships, real community, and real passion. We are deeply rooted in service, and that shows up in how we care for our clients, how we show up for our city, and how we use our business as a platform to support community causes, youth initiatives, scholarship events, church functions, and celebrations that matter to people. I have always wanted my brand to represent more than great food. I want it to represent excellence with purpose.
I also believe our versatility is a major strength. We can produce an elegant wedding dinner, a polished corporate brunch, a soulful community banquet, or a modern cocktail-style reception while still maintaining the same level of flavor, presentation, and hospitality. That ability to move across spaces while staying true to our identity has allowed us to serve a wide range of clients and continue growing year after year.
What I am most proud of is not just the business itself, but what it represents. I am proud that Seasons Classic Catering was built through faith, resilience, hard work, and consistency. I am proud that what began as an idea has turned into something that has served so many people in meaningful moments of their lives. I am proud that our name has become associated with quality and care. And I am especially proud that we have built a brand people remember—not just because the food was good, but because the experience felt different.
That difference is at the center of who we are. Our motto is, “It’s Just Different,” and that is more than a slogan. It is our standard. It speaks to the intention behind everything we do—from the flavor of the food to the professionalism of the service to the way we make clients feel valued.
What I want potential clients, followers, and supporters to know is that when you work with us, you are getting more than a caterer. You are getting someone who truly cares about the outcome of your event. You are getting a team that understands both the creative and operational side of hospitality. You are getting a brand that values people, presentation, flavor, and follow-through. And you are getting a business that was built from love, faith, and a genuine desire to serve.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that Seasons Classic Catering is about excellence, experience, and impact. We are here to make your moments memorable, your events seamless, and your guests feel like they were part of something special.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most defining pivots in my journey as a business owner came in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the events industry to a complete halt. As a caterer, my entire business model was built around gatherings—weddings, corporate events, celebrations, and community functions. Almost overnight, everything was canceled or postponed. The calendar went from full to empty, and like many in hospitality, I was faced with a hard question: *What now?*
There was a moment of uncertainty, but I knew standing still wasn’t an option. I had a responsibility not just to my business, but to my family, my team, and the community that had supported me.
That’s when the pivot happened.
Instead of focusing on large-scale events, we shifted to something much more personal and immediate. We launched what we called “Chef Ant’s Stimulus Package.” It was a pickup meal concept designed to provide families across the city with high-quality, affordable, ready-to-eat meals during a time when people couldn’t gather, dine out, or celebrate the way they were used to.
The idea was simple, but the impact was powerful.
Every week, we created menus that felt like comfort—meals that brought families back to the table during a time when the world felt uncertain. People were dealing with job loss, stress, isolation, and disruption to everyday life. We wanted to provide not just food, but a sense of normalcy, care, and consistency.
What started as a response to a crisis quickly became something much bigger. The community showed up in a major way. Families looked forward to the menus. Orders grew. And what we realized was that even though events had stopped, the need for connection through food had not.
That pivot didn’t just help sustain the business—it expanded it.
It forced me to think differently, move quickly, and tap into creativity in a way I hadn’t before. It also reinforced something I’ve always believed: a strong brand isn’t just built in good times—it’s revealed in challenging ones.
Looking back, that season taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying connected to your purpose. Seasons Classic Catering was never just about events—it was always about serving people. COVID simply challenged us to find a new way to do that.
And we did.
That experience remains one of the moments I’m most proud of, because it showed that even in uncertainty, we could still create value, serve our community, and live out our mission.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building my reputation in the market wasn’t the result of one big moment—it was the result of consistency over time.
From the very beginning, I made a decision that Seasons Classic Catering would be known for three things: quality, professionalism, and experience. Not just good food, but a complete standard. Every event, no matter the size or budget, deserved the same level of care and execution. That mindset helped us earn trust early, and trust is what really builds a reputation.
Another major factor was relationships.
Kansas City is a relationship-driven city, and I’ve always approached business with a people-first mindset. I didn’t just want clients—I wanted lasting connections. Whether it was a bride, a corporate partner, a nonprofit organization, or a community leader, I made it a priority to show up, communicate well, and deliver on what I promised. Over time, those relationships turned into referrals, repeat business, and strong word-of-mouth—which is still one of the most powerful forms of marketing in this industry.
Our presence in the community also played a huge role.
We’ve been intentional about showing up for the city—not just for paid opportunities, but for meaningful ones. From scholarship events and school functions to nonprofit initiatives and cultural celebrations, we’ve aligned our brand with purpose. People don’t just see us as a catering company—they see us as a business that genuinely cares about the community it serves. That kind of visibility and authenticity builds credibility in a different way.
Consistency in the experience is another key piece.
Anyone can have one great event. The challenge is delivering that same level of excellence over and over again. We’ve worked hard to make sure that whether it’s 50 guests or 500, the food is on point, the presentation is clean, the service is professional, and the client feels taken care of. That consistency is what turns first-time clients into long-term supporters.
I also believe our ability to evolve has strengthened our reputation.
We’ve stayed relevant by being creative, adaptable, and open to growth—whether that was expanding our menus, refining our systems, or pivoting during challenging times like COVID. People respect a brand that can not only deliver, but also adjust and innovate when needed.
At the end of the day, our reputation has been built plate by plate, event by event, and relationship by relationship.
It’s built on doing what we say we’re going to do—and doing it at a high level, every single time.
That’s what our motto “It’s Just Different” really means.
