We recently connected with Annie H. Hoffman and have shared our conversation below.
Annie H., appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I’ve spent more than three decades in the media industry, and moving from idea to execution has always been part of my DNA. My entrepreneurial journey grew out of a combination of experience and the ability to recognize gaps in the industry.
I was fortunate enough to receive some incredible opportunities early in my career. At 19 I received an Emmy nomination, at 20 I became a stage manager for Monday Night Football, and by 24 I was the first female executive producer of an all-sports radio station. Those experiences taught me not only the craft of media but also the fast-paced logistics and teamwork behind high-pressure productions.
The idea to launch my own company came from noticing that many talented athletes, broadcasters and executives were struggling with something beyond technical ability: they found it difficult to communicate their story and build a strong media presence. I remember the moment I decided to take the leap. It was exciting but also intimidating because I had to figure out how to translate all my experience into a structured program that could truly help people.
The first essential steps were research and planning. I had to define the services I wanted to offer, create a framework for coaching, and design a client experience that was meaningful. I reached out to mentors and colleagues, studied the market, and set up the operational side of a business, from legal documents to branding and marketing materials. I also tapped into my network, connecting with people I had worked with over the years, to build credibility and find my first clients.
I launched Sportscast Stars Training in 2007, focusing on media coaching for athletes and professionals. As demand grew, I expanded into broader PR strategy and executive coaching, eventually founding Annie H. Hoffman, LLC.
Looking back, the journey wasn’t about the perfect plan. What carried me through was a combination of preparation, curiosity, and courage. I treated every challenge as an opportunity to grow and kept my focus on helping others tap into their potential. It was about taking informed steps, learning quickly and staying focused on my goal, and in doing that, I’ve created something that truly makes a difference.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Annie H. Hoffman, Emmy-Nominated Media Trainer and PR Strategist. I’ve spent over 30 years helping people communicate their stories with clarity, confidence, and purpose. My work goes beyond securing media placements. Now, I help leaders, athletes, broadcasters and executives to develop their voice, strengthen their brand and show up with authority when the spotlight is on.
My career in media began early. I was 19 when I received an Emmy nomination for my work on the United Negro College Fund Skins Game. By the age of 24 I was the first female executive producer of an all-sports radio station and later became the first reporter to cover the intersection of sports and entertainment – a concept I first pitched to CBS Sports.com, where I was recognized as Best Reporter.
Over the years, I’ve interviewed icons including Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Jerry Seinfeld, a U.S. President, and legendary athletes including Shaquille O’Neal, Serena Williams, Arthur Ashe, Joe Montana, and racing greats Mario and Michael Andretti. My work has appeared on Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC, Court TV, and more than 50 other platforms across the United States and Canada. I’ve also helped stars develop their personal brand, refine their message, and shine in the spotlight. With integrated mindset and manifestation coaching I showed them that how you see yourself affects how the rest of the world receives you. When your message aligns with your mission you attract the right platforms, audiences, and opportunities.
Today, through Annie H. Hoffman, LLC I provide personalized PR strategy, media coaching, and broadcast training that empowers clients to own their message and communicate with confidence – whether they’re on camera, on stage or in the boardroom.
As a single mother of three, who rebuilt my life after leaving an abusive marriage, I bring real-life experience, resilience, and a passion for helping others achieve their goals. I help today’s leaders and tomorrow’s rising voices to tell their story, and step into their next level with strategy, intentional communication, and presence.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Every woman eventually reaches a moment in her career, relationship, or life journey where she realizes she’s giving more than she’s receiving. Real strength is not in holding on to something that doesn’t give you value. It’s knowing when to pivot, whether personally or professionally.
For me, that pivot came during a difficult chapter in my life and was both necessary and transformative. While I had built a thriving media business, working with top athletes, broadcasters and executives, and establishing credibility in a male-dominated industry, I was also navigating an abusive marriage and raising three children. The pressure was relentless, and I realized that to survive and thrive, I had to step away from what was harming me and rebuild on my own terms.
Leaving that marriage was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever made, but it wasn’t a setback; it was a pivot—a moment of clarity that allowed me to prioritize myself, my children, and my purpose. I had to reimagine my life, restructure my business, and trust in my experience, skills, and vision. It was challenging, exhausting, and yet liberating. That pivot taught me that women don’t have to choose between being caregivers and pursuing their careers. We can do both, but only when we put ourselves first in the moments that matter.
That experience reshaped how I approach both life and business. Today, I bring that lesson to my clients. I teach them that pivoting with purpose isn’t failure. It’s the opportunity to reclaim your voice, your energy, and your path forward.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience, for me, has always been about showing up even when the odds are stacked against you. One of the greatest test of resilience in my life came when I made the decision to leave an abusive marriage while raising three young children. At that moment, I was juggling the demands of my career with the responsibility of providing stability and support for my family. It would have been easy to stay where it was comfortable or familiar, even if it was harmful. But I knew that to reclaim my life and my power, I had to make a difficult choice and step into the unknown.
The early days after that decision were challenging. I had to rebuild my business from the ground up, navigate financial and emotional challenges, and manage every detail of my life alone. There were moments of doubt, exhaustion, and even fear—but I learned to rely on my intuition and my experience. Every setback became a lesson, every challenge an opportunity to grow stronger.
That experience shaped not just my business, but my perspective on life and leadership. It taught me that resilience is not about never falling. It’s about picking yourself up, adapting, and continuing to move forward with intention and determination.
Today, I bring that same mindset to my clients, helping them overcome obstacles, find their voice, and show up with confidence and purpose—no matter what challenges they face.
