We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anne Gillaspie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Anne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
When Anne Took a RiskAnne Gillaspie always believed that the deepest fears often reside in silence, echoing through generations. Her journey began as she confronted her own inherited patterns—those silent scripts that dictated her actions, emotions, and relationships. The Turning Point: Speaking Her Truth
During a particularly challenging moment, Anne decided to embrace vulnerability. She took a risk by sharing a fear she had long buried: the fear of not being enough. This moment wasn’t just a personal revelation; it was a breaking point—a chance to disrupt a generational cycle of silence. The Share Your Fear Method
As she stood before an audience, Anne introduced her “Share Your Fear” method, emphasizing that acknowledging one’s fears can lead to profound liberation. In that moment, she realized that by voicing her truth, she was not just freeing herself; she was also paving the way for others to do the same. The Ripple Effect
By sharing her story, she invited others to reflect on their own fears. In a powerful exercise, she asked, “What’s the one thing you’d never say out loud?” The room filled with a palpable energy as participants began to confront their own inherited scripts. Each shared fear became a step towards collective healing—a radical act of self-liberation.The Transformation
Through this risk, Anne found not just personal growth but also a renewed sense of purpose. She recognized that real strength lies in vulnerability, and that by breaking the silence, she could inspire others to reclaim their truths. The Call to Courage
Anne left her audience with a challenge: “Do one scary thing today.” This wasn’t merely about facing fears; it was about igniting a movement of radical self-truth and emotional rebirth. In her journey, Anne Gillaspie exemplifies how taking a risk by speaking one’s truth can transform lives, break generational patterns, and foster a community of authenticity and courage.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
That one night I shared my fear out loud to my husband on our sofa in 2020… I don’t think I need to exist anymore. When I fully believed I didn’t need to show up in my life as a mom of three young kids, owner of a successful branding business, friend keeper of many deep relationships, and should have had a life full of purpose, at least it looked that way on the outside. But inside, I had disappeared, I lost any version of Anne I had known. And what happened in the following years was the revealing of truths Anne had never known about herself, because I woke up, became clear on the truths I wanted to live my life by, and shared them with myself, my therapists, my husband, my friends, my colleagues and team, and finally began living.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
People pleasing is for the dumpster. Unlearning this skillset, engrained since childhood, will be something that serves me for a long lifetime of joy and happiness, because I’m living for myself.
