Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
From Addiction to Angel Numbers: The Spiritual Journey Behind Edenology and Ahavah Gardens
Entrepreneurship is rarely a straight path; it’s often a winding, unpredictable road filled with obstacles and unexpected twists. For this business owner, the journey has been nothing short of miraculous—a story of overcoming personal struggles, financial challenges, and the heavy burden of addiction, all while trusting in divine guidance. This is the story of a woman who went from owning a salon in Colorado Springs to founding a holistic wellness center and, eventually, a Church of Entheogenics. It’s a story of faith, transformation, and an unwavering belief that sometimes, the universe has a plan far greater than we can imagine.
In 2012, after years of running Eden Salon & Barbershop in Rockrimmon, I took a leap of faith—expanding the business to a new location in the heart of Colorado Springs. The excitement of growth quickly turned to overwhelm as costs spiraled over budget, legal issues complicated the lease, and my personal life became a battleground of emotional turmoil. To cope with the mounting stress, I turned to alcohol, which soon spiraled into a full-blown addiction. The vision of my dream business was slipping through my fingers and was too much to bear.
I thought I was going to have to close the doors before they even really opened. The pressure was immense, and I was lost in a dark place.
But sometimes, when we are at our lowest, we are also closest to divine intervention. During this challenging time, something extraordinary happened. I began noticing number sequences—repeating patterns of digits—appearing everywhere: on license plates, clocks, receipts. At first, I thought it was just coincidence. But the patterns were so intense, so frequent, that curiosity got the best of me. I looked them up, and what I found was both uncanny and comforting. These numbers were not mere random occurrences; they were messages – spiritual confirmation, affirmations of my path, a gentle reminder from the universe that I wasn’t alone.
For years, I lived with these numbers, and they guided me. she says. It was as though the universe was telling me to hold on, that everything was going to be okay.
The next year, 2013, saw an inexplicable financial turnaround for Eden. The overwhelming debt began to dissolve, new opportunities emerged, and, most importantly, I found my way to sobriety. These angel numbers became my lifeline, a constant reminder that faith could move mountains, and faith, I realized, was the key to my survival.
But the road ahead would not be without challenges. In 2020, after seven years of sobriety, I experienced a devastating relapse with alcohol. The pain of the relapse was not just physical but deeply spiritual. For the first time, I recognized that while her body had been sober, her soul had not done the necessary healing work. It was time to go deeper.
I was sober on the outside but not on the inside. I realized I needed to confront my own demons and do the real work of recovery.
This is where my journey took an unexpected turn. A dear friend, who had been traveling to Colombia to participate in ceremonial work, introduced me to the concept of “holding space” during sacred ceremonies. It was through this conversation that I first heard the word “Ayahuasca” – a powerful, sacred plant medicine used for healing and introspection. Just hearing the word pierced my soul in a way that I couldn’t explain. It felt like a calling. I knew, deep in my heart, that I had to experience it.
Despite my reservations and the cautionary advice of others not to make major life decisions after an Ayahuasca ceremony, I felt an undeniable pull to follow this new path. Within months, I booked her first Ayahuasca retreat in California.
I was ready to meet this medicine and to meet myself. The experience was unlike anything I could have imagined. By the third night, I was surfing the cosmos, feeling every cell in my body being energetically upgraded. It was profound – it was as if I was waking up to a part of myself that I had been asleep to for years.
Returning from the retreat, I felt like a completely different person. My soul had been awakened, and I could no longer ignore the calling I felt to create something new. But even then, the challenges persisted. I was struggling with the financial burden of the second Eden location, Eden West. I had no idea how I would manage to open a new business, let alone a wellness center. I was still stuck in a business I really didn’t want to be. Yet, faith had carried me this far, and I trusted it would continue to guide me.
One day, as I was doing hair at the Eden West location, a profound moment of clarity came over me. I looked at my client and, without thinking, blurted out, “I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m closing this shop and bringing everyone home to Eden downtown.”
It was a bold, risky decision to close Eden West and consolidate operations, but it was also a turning point. Two years later, on December 12th 2022, EDENOLOGY Holistic Wellness was born in the heart of Old Colorado City – a space dedicated to healing, to spiritual growth, and to providing the community with the same modalities and holistic practices that had helped me on my own journey.
Throughout the building of EDENOLOGY, I continued to see signs – angel numbers, moments of synchronicity – that reassured me I was on the right path. One number, 143, would become especially significant. It was the same number my best friend, who had tragically passed away from addiction in 2021, had always used to sign off their texts or conversation “I love you, 143.” This number appeared so often throughout the process of creating EDENOLOGY that I felt my friend’s presence guiding me, encouraging me every step of the way. We had over 30 years of friendship and sisterhood. Her presence through the process was absolutely profound.
Despite facing financial difficulties and moments of fear, I remained steadfast in my belief that the work I was doing was divinely inspired. And on February 6th, 2024, less than two years after the birth of EDENOLOGY, another dream came to fruition—Ahavah Gardens Church of Entheogenics, a space dedicated to protecting the people and the sacred medicines that had transformed my life.
Our church is a place where everyone, regardless of belief system, is welcome. It’s a place where spirituality, consciousness expansion, and healing are the focus. We believe that through our connection to the sacred plants, we can come together to heal the collective, to heal each other, and to grow in ways we never thought possible.
From the depths of addiction to the heights of spiritual enlightenment, my journey has been one of resilience, faith, and divine intervention. I am a living testament to the transformative power of holistic healing and the profound impact of trusting in a higher purpose. Today, as a curandera and spiritual guide, I continue to help others on their healing paths, knowing that the universe has a plan – and sometimes, all you have to do is trust it.
These businesses, this mission, it’s bigger than me. It’s not just about healing myself – it’s about healing the collective. And that’s the true magic of it all.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Sometimes, the path to purpose is written long before we even begin to walk it. For me, that truth came alive when I first met Keauna. I’ve known her in ways that transcend time and space—long before she ever took her first breath, back when she was still nestled in the womb of my best friend. We were connected, even then. Little did I know that our souls were bound by a mission far greater than I could have imagined.
As a child, Keauna was always there. I would catch her quietly observing me, watching my every move with a kind of intensity that seemed to carry a deeper meaning. At first, I didn’t understand why she did that. What was she seeing in me? Why was she so drawn to my every gesture, my every word? Over time, it became clear: I was more than just an older friend or a mentor; I was a guide, a beacon for her journey. From that moment, I knew there was something special about our connection, something that had been written in the stars long before we met.
When Keauna was just fourteen, she made a decision that would change her life – and mine – forever. She announced that she wanted to become a hairdresser. It wasn’t a passing whim or a teenage fancy. This was the beginning of her path, and I felt a deep sense of responsibility. I began mentoring her, training her with the same care and attention I had given to my own growth. From that moment, I watched her flourish. She absorbed every bit of advice I gave her, every technique I shared, and she built herself up in the industry at lightning speed.
Her growth was nothing short of magical. She was patient, dedicated, and deeply committed to her craft. What amazed me the most was how much she trusted me, how she leaned into my guidance, allowing me to mentor her as if she had been waiting her whole life for this moment. As she climbed in the industry, I saw her begin to carve out her own space, guided not only by my mentorship but by an inner knowing that was hers to claim.
Fast forward to June 2023, and I was standing on the precipice of a new chapter in my life. The vision for EDENOLOGY Holistic Wellness had become a reality, but the journey had not been without its struggles. A previous attempt at partnership had left me feeling disheartened, even defeated. I had poured so much of myself into the dream, only to have it slip through my fingers. Yet, as with everything, I knew there was a lesson in it.
And then, like a blessing from the universe, Keauna entered the picture once again.
As if by divine timing, she felt called to join me on this new venture. She offered her unwavering support, her energy, and her vision to help bring the wellness center to life. It felt right, in a way that I can’t fully explain—like the universe had aligned our paths once more, this time for a purpose much bigger than either of us could have imagined. Keauna wasn’t just offering her help; she was stepping into a shared mission. And just as the angel numbers had guided me before, Keauna too had received her own confirmations that this was the path we were meant to walk together.
Our partnership was destined, not just by chance but by the threads of fate that had been weaving our lives together since before we were even born. We understood each other on a deep, unspoken level. It was as if we had been preparing for this moment our whole lives, and now, the time had come to build something sacred and lasting.
By June 2023, we officially became business partners at EDENOLOGY Holistic Wellness, a space created not just for healing, but for expansion and connection. What started as a vision had become a living, breathing sanctuary for the community. And that was only the beginning. Together, we dreamed of creating something even greater—a Church of Entheogenics, a space that honors spiritual growth, healing, and connection to sacred medicines.
As we embarked on this journey, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible synchronicity that had brought us together. From the time I first caught her studying me as a child to now, as we stand side by side building this wellness center, I have come to realize just how deeply our lives have been intertwined. We were destined to create this together, not just for us, but for the world.
Our partnership was more than just business; it was a spiritual union—two souls coming together at the perfect moment to manifest a shared vision. We were both following the divine guidance that had been leading us all along. The numbers, the signs, the whispers of the universe—all of it pointed us toward this incredible journey.

Keauna and I, both guided by divine timing and cosmic synchronicity, are here to heal, to guide, and to serve.
