Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Mittleman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrew, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started to learn music in my own creative way at the age of eight. I’ve studied many career paths such as rock, rap, and metal.
I didn’t have the chance to really get on a stage until I was twenty two years old.
A few shows in, my mother passed from ALS and I didn’t step on stage again until I was twenty eight.
I’ve opened for bigger acts such as Krizz Kaliko, Ouija Macc, Death Angel, SCUM, and Insane Poetry.
I’ve joined several previous labels
A few including Bentley Records and Grim Reality Entertainment.

Andrew, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I may have started working on music on my eight birthday, however I needed to understand music in my own way in order to work on music with others.
There are so many bands local and international that I looked up to that I would listen to and feel through time,
I would be able to do what they are doing in my own way,
one day.
I picked up an acoustic guitar and over a period of 6 weeks wrote my first e.p. “Human Coffin” and signed to a smaller label at the age of 22.
I performed at a few venues in my local town at the time (Bartlesville, O.K.)
I wrote my next album which was a mix of early 2000’s rap/rock called “Reviving Reality.”
I only performed twice with album due to my mother passing a few months after it was released.
I left the label I was on and stepped away from the stage.
It was a really dark time in my life and I needed time to deal with that.
During those five years, Buried Inside Of Us was created and it went from the band’s name, to the labels name,
(Yes, it was a label for a little bit) to the meaning of my music.
Mickey Lynch and I, wrote my first self-produced duo album, “Bleed Out”
The album consisted of many variations of metal, rap, rock, and alternative styles.
It set out a motion to really make something different.
I then wrote my first solo, self-produced album, “Nail Those In”
And later that year “My Mind (The Sickness)”
I was asked to do a show for a benefit, back in December of 2020.
The show would change my career forever,
I headlined day one of HoodStock 4.0 Festival December 4th, 2020, in Tulsa Oklahoma.
This event is to benefit the homeless and those in need with gifts and donations.
That was the day my career finally made sense.
I am free when I’m in that moment.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I would have told myself to do sooner, I was so nervous. When you want to achieve something, it seems that certain things or people,
they will do things to change your overall goal.
I should’ve listened to my heart sooner.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to always be myself, in the end, I will take my last breath as I am.
My mission is to understand that no one can do this for you,
only you can do this for you.
Its okay to be selfish sometimes, there’s a difference between taking time for yourself,
and being self-centered.
