We recently connected with Andrew McCall and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
Both my parents were immigrants and came to America to live the American dream. They became citizens and then had my brother and me three years later. My parents were business owners their whole lives here in America. I started working with them at a very young age. I would work with my dad during my summers off from school and my mom all year. They had three businesses going and I worked all three. Dad started the Carpet Cleaning back in 1981 and I started it with him. We worked together for a few years then mom and brother came into it. I worked with my brother for a few years and then went on my own. In 2000 I bought the business and took it all on alone. I have been on my own now for 22 years and have had my ups and downs. My parents taught me to work hard and do the best job I can. And I still do that today. I knew at a very young age I was going to follow in their footsteps. It has been an amazing ride and am very happy with my decision. I lost my mom 12 years ago and just lost my brother over Christmas. Dad is almost 94 now and still takes care of himself. I help with what he can’t do. He is a very amazing man and father. He has always been Superman to me and I know one day he will be with mom. But all he has taught me will always stay with me. I am a very blessed man.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I have been doing this business 41 years now. I do tile and grout cleaning as well as carpet and upholstery. Service is my number one thing. If my customer isn’t happy I’m not happy. I pride myself in my work and will always go the extra mile.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I bought the business from my parents and made weekly payments for 15 years. Never miss one. It was a great felling getting it paid off. Now my parents could have just given it to me but dad was big on teaching me to work hard. I think he did the right thing
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The internet and reviews have been the best thing for my business. I have been on may sites over the years and all have helped build a good name for me and my business.
