We recently connected with Andre Notice and have shared our conversation below.
Andre, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
For me to achieve the level of success of where I am now and even where I’m going, I had to learn A LOT. I’m still constantly learning everyday. Unfortunately, most of what I learned that really helped shape my business mind and geared me for success was NOT taught in school and I actually did not learn until I dropped out. If these areas are taught in school, they were not taught along my path and made necessary as basic school knowledge for my first 12 years in school. Post drop-out, I’ve had to learn on my own or through other means the following areas I believe should be taught from grade school to produce a more active, fulfilling, well-rounded society of individuals:
Mediation
Credit
Finances
Purpose
Critical thinking
Stress management
Goal writing
Goal achieving
Imagination/dreams
Entrepreneurship
Communication
Relationship building/networking
Nutrition
Power of words
Power of their minds
Money utilization
Self love
I believe this is just a start. There are other fields I believe to be just as important, but having these as a basis would change the trajectory of the lives of so many in a positive upbringing.
Andre, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In the early 2000’s my mother ran her own mortgage brokerage with my step-dad. She had a few employees and her company did fairly well. They thought it would malke sense for me to get my real estate license. It took 8 failed attempts but I finally passed the test on my 9th try and became licensed. I’m glad I had the resilience to not gice up. I practiced real estate part-time for the next few years and in 2012 I decided to quit my job and run full-time in real estate. Things got ugly. Within a year I was broke, evicted, and homeless for 3 years. 3 of those years I ended up sleeping in a car I had just bought, all while still selling homes (when I had none of my own). Through consistency and that resilience again, I worked myself out of that hole and to becoming a top producing, award winning realtor and community service leader. I am proud that even when it get rough, tough and ugly, and I had the opportunity to retreat, I had the faith in God and in myself to push through until I achieved what I ultimately wanted,…freedom from anyone’s workplace and to earn what I set in my mind to earn. From there I began to create my own home buying workshops, from scratch. I put it together and did it; no training. Then, I started receiving opportunities to speak on different platforms, just for fun. Sharing my insight on real estate or relationships. Those experience then blossomed into a love for speaking and I would find myself confiding in others in difficult, uncomfortable positions and praying for them over the phone. Soon after, God place in my spirit the title to a book, “Your purpose is not for you.” It took 6 years until I put the pen to the paper to create the book…but it’s here. My coaching program is to expound on what the book covers. So the book is about WHY was I created and the coaching is more of HOW can I put that to work for me and profit from my purpose in my own business. I’m very passionate about others break the cycle of living a life they are unhappy and unfulfilled to wake up to.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media audience is still growing but it has gotten to where it is now by me really just being myself. I have realized that sharing my experiences and failures has an impact and becomes an inspiration to others. These posts garner much attention at times to where those that don’t follow me are able to see and then follow. Also, sharing the wisdom of the things I’ve learned throughout the years has also had some of the same effect. In short, my audience has grown from being me and sharing that with others but the main component is consistency.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
2004 was the year I paid for and took real estate classes and the exam. Many may not know but I passed the state portion of the exam on the first try, but the national, I failed 8x. I think many would’ve been discouraged and possibly given up after 3 or 4x but my goal was to be a realtor and I wasn’t going to rest or give up at any point.
